for the purposes of TVE and channels, they will need to remove Reelz from TVEverywhere and you will need to setup the link in Channels until it gets DRM added eventually.
If channels were set to where you had to be a reelz plus member before accessing the stream, it might be something or set things up to where you use the tv provider log in.
They won't just add the stream.
When OPL launched on Reelz, the TVE stream was a much lower quality 720p. It was terrible compared to Live PD on A&E tve. At some point a year or so ago, Reelz stream got upgraded to 1080p and a higher bitrate. Now, with their switch to a paid service, it got downgraded back to a poorish quality 720p stream. And they expect u to pay for that???
Anyways, that link is hardcoded in their website on various pages, including public facing ones before you login. But I suppose it’s only a matter of time before they either remove those links or add DRM.
Yes, that’s what I meant since it seems to have the same user provider logon tve I would think they would not have a problem to add that. Then again that public link to that stream is hardcoded in their website and anyone that knows how to use inspect source or browser inspector can find it.
How does one get the proper channel logo and guide date for REELZ?
In this example the Bravo channel logo and data are accurately displayed and when selected it opens nbc app and off to races .
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="bravo" tvg-chno="6058" tvc-guide-stationid="58625",BRAVOHD
nbctve://live/bravo
The above using HLS it does allow reelz to play inside the channels app.
Now would like to populate data again
not really sure. I have not messed with Channels tags much. I already had it in my existing Guide lineup from TVE, so i just mapped the custom channel to it on the "Manage Lineup" page for the custom channel.
I changed the Channel number in my m3u to 1500 as not to conflict with the TVE channel, in case the end up restoring it. (The original TVE channel number is 6095)
This is my m3u
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="1500" tvg-id="1500" tvg-chno="1500" tvg-logo="https://tmsimg.fancybits.co/assets/s52199_ll_h9_ac.png?w=360&h=270" tvc-guide-stationid="52199" tvg-name="REELZ" group-title="Favorites",REELZ
https://cdn.katapy.io/cache/stream/reelztv/reelztv/playlist.m3u8
Edit: A thing to note. Seems this web stream is about 1min or so behind the original TVE source. My passes were set to start record 30 sec before, and there is now about 1min 30 sec of previous episode, and not just 30 secs. So, u may need to adjust your start and end padding.
Thank you very much about same time I remembered mapping, that fillled guide now I just want to custom position in guide like you did…
Thanks alot for quick responses !
Ok I’m all set except one item, I keep trying different numbers but not quite there
I would like it to be on grid as channel number 44
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="REELZ" tvg-chno="44" tvc-guide-stationid="6095"REELZTV
https://cdn.katapy.io/cache/stream/reelztv/reelztv/720.m3u8
This is result everything works except sit at position 12761
When I put 44 in channel id it messes up guide…
So I went back to reelz letters and below is what I see ..
only way to get is is to download the app and cast to to the big screen now bummer.
Is that (ch 44) conflicting with a existing channel from another source? Use a number that does not have an existing channel.
Once u set the number in the m3u, use the Delete and Re-Create the Guide Database to clear out old channel numbers. That is what i had to do.
Also, fully close and re-open the Channels app on your clients. They need to refresh properly. on Apple TV, that is double press the home button, then double press up.
You need a comma between tvc-guide-stationid="6095" and REELZTV
tvc-guide-stationid="6095",REELZTV
Also make sure your custom m3u source setting is set to Prefer channel-number from M3U
Thank you all so much for the custom fix! I may not be glued to REELZ, but my wife sure is, and keeping her happy keeps my life happy—if you know what I mean!
Your help is truly appreciated!
Just to be CLEAR, for any others that read this thread.....
I would consider this custom m3u link, a TEMPORARY solution.
Reelz could remove/change the link, or add DRM at any time.
As it stands, It appears Reelz no longer offers a TVE stream (as they did before), and thus, may no longer be supported officially by Channels DVR. (unless the Devs state otherwise and can adjust things to make use of Reelz+ stream.)
Realizing this is not a TVE solution, nor as easy as TVE, but using the Frndly Docker or ADBtuner with Peacock or Sling is an option to get Reelz that may be more permanent. All projects covered well in the various Channels forums.
Or...if you are only looking for a few shows and can watch them after they air...what I used to do was use the Channels integration with PlayOn cloud to download On Patrol love into Channels. This is almost as easy of setup as TVE
Not sure if it's the same content, but 'REELZ Famous and Infamous' is available on Plex (480P) or Tubi (1080P). Dockers available to generate m3u/xml.
It's not
Glad then I don't know what I am missing
Really enjoy watching. For example, Sat/Sun is OPL all day. During the week are the 'people' profiles, and they had a great series on rock bands.
It's the same content, but not Live. It's VOD as a linear channel. Like most FAST channels are.
I think most people watch it on REELZ because it's Live there.
The only thing on REELZ i care about is OPL and any spin off series of it (there isn't any that i know of, the other Cop shops, Like BodyCam or whatever are on ID or A&E).
I can watch REELZ via the Philo app fine, and, when airing live, can start from the beginning. They have cloud "DVR". But it works different than CDVR. U just select a show to "save" and it puts that in a separate tab page. U can watch the "recorded" episodes of the show, and/or available VODs.
Some content, alot with the VOD's of certain networks, have un-skippable ads/commercial breaks though.
Fix?
I can't test since I don't get Reelz in my subs
Yeah, I updated to the latest pre-release and was able to re-add Reelz through my Xfinity TVE login. Cheers!
Yup! Is working now again via my Philo TVE source.
Is 720p though, so i can assume it is the same feed as the URL i had found.
