Sat>IP support

Can you share a single channel in the forum so i can try it with VLC?

I recommend you use gist.github.com to save a copy, then you can track changes and also use the "Raw" links directly in your dvr as a M3U URL

For example I created this sample: https://gist.github.com/tmm1/496e4dacb2213c9318832b1f946d24f1

Which can be added to the dvr with this URL:

https://gist.github.com/tmm1/496e4dacb2213c9318832b1f946d24f1/raw/test.m3u8

Here's my URL for BBC1 HD:

http://192.168.1.12/?src=1&freq=10847&pol=v&ro=0.25&msys=dvbs2&mtype=8psk&plts=off&sr=23000&fec=34&pids=0,260,5400,5401,5402,5403

For Kathrein to stream via HTTP, you need to remove the 554 port address.

And here's a snippet of what my M3U file looks like:

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF: -1 tvg-id="BBC1LDH" tvg-chno="101" group-title="SATIP", BBC One HD
http://192.168.1.12/?src=1&freq=10847&pol=v&ro=0.25&msys=dvbs2&mtype=8psk&plts=off&sr=23000&fec=34&pids=0,1,16,17,260,5400,5401,5402,5403
#EXTINF: -1 tvg-id="BBC2HD" tvg-chno="102" group-title="SATIP", BBC Two HD
http://192.168.1.12/?src=1&freq=10847&pol=v&ro=0.25&msys=dvbs2&mtype=8psk&plts=off&sr=23000&fec=34&pids=0,1,16,17,258,5500,5501,5502,5503
#EXTINF: -1 tvg-id="ITV1GHD" tvg-chno="103" group-title="SATIP", ITV HD

#EXTINF: -1 tvg-id="C4HD" tvg-chno="104" group-title="SATIP", Channel 4 HD
http://192.168.1.12/?src=1&freq=11127&pol=v&ro=0.25&msys=dvbs&mtype=qpsk&plts=off&sr=22000&fec=56&pids=0,1,16,17,259,2305,2306,2307,2309
#EXTINF: -1 tvg-id="CH5HD" tvg-chno="105" group-title="SATIP", Channel 5 HD
http://192.168.1.12/?src=1&freq=10964&pol=h&ro=0.25&msys=dvbs&mtype=qpsk&plts=off&sr=22000&fec=56&pids=0,1,16,17,257,2305,2306,2307,2308

554 is the default rtsp port. It can be omitted from the URLs, then it's simpler to switch between http/rtsp by changing the beginning only.

Also it would be better to start using satip:// in the urls instead of rtsp://. SAT>IP boxes don't use proper RTSP, so satip:// url makes it more clear to the client that it should use the specific SAT>IP version of RTSP protocol. VLC and Channels DVR both work with satip:// urls.

If kingofsat is a reliable source of data, you could use something like https://github.com/localhosthack0r/kingofsat2satip and wrap it in a docker container like in our pluto-for-channels example.

Ok so I have tried stoli412 M3U. http does not work with my Kathrein box and vlc. I omitted ports numbers also in several combinations.

I also tried satip:// that also seems to be unrecognised by VLC.

Do you have an example url we can try?

Potentially silly question, but you did change the IP address to that of your personal SAT>IP server?

Yes mate but thanks for the suggestion!

Clever stuff...

HTTP & RTSP is working fine for me at the moment. I have the ability to create a basic m3u file which is workiing ok. I've tweaked about with a few settings and my "test" m3u file which is scanning & tuning channels in 1-2 seconds.

@neild7744 which of your boxes supports http?

So far I have only seen http work on the two megasat boxes on my list.

So ive just connected my Apple TV box over ethernet, re loaded a HTTP m3u playlist with a few tweaks... channel changes are pretty much instant (both SD & HD) within the Channels DVR app on ios. Also checked and I have options for standard audio, narrated audio, subtitles available etc... all seems good. The channels also work on my android phone without issue.

Yeah i just closed VLC and reloaded and it does appear that Kathrein works with http after all. Must have been a VLC issue.

Neil, did you replace rtsp with http and remove the port number?

Just spoke to Neil on WhatsApp. Seems as though the Kathrein box is working with http url. Although the selection in channels server application works only with Mpeg not HLS

I'm going to give it a go now!

MPEGTS is the correct selection for SAT>IP.

HLS is used for internet streaming.

Can you help me with something...

In the Channels DVR under "manage lineup" there is a "+" button for adding an additional EPG provider. When i try to add a second provider, map those channels then exit... the second EPG provider disappears & so does the channel mapping?

Basically GBR-1000073-DEFAULT disappears?

That's normal behavior.

You may be better off using the newer global search option:

That is awesome. Thanks. Much better - Fully populated EPG now

I can even get listings for hotbird 13e!!! - Quality!
