So ive just connected my Apple TV box over ethernet, re loaded a HTTP m3u playlist with a few tweaks... channel changes are pretty much instant (both SD & HD) within the Channels DVR app on ios. Also checked and I have options for standard audio, narrated audio, subtitles available etc... all seems good. The channels also work on my android phone without issue.

Yeah i just closed VLC and reloaded and it does appear that Kathrein works with http after all. Must have been a VLC issue.
Neil, did you replace rtsp with http and remove the port number?
Just spoke to Neil on WhatsApp. Seems as though the Kathrein box is working with http url. Although the selection in channels server application works only with Mpeg not HLS
I'm going to give it a go now!
MPEGTS is the correct selection for SAT>IP.
HLS is used for internet streaming.

In the Channels DVR under "manage lineup" there is a "+" button for adding an additional EPG provider. When i try to add a second provider, map those channels then exit... the second EPG provider disappears & so does the channel mapping?
Basically GBR-1000073-DEFAULT disappears?

That's normal behavior.
You may be better off using the newer global search option:

I really can't thank @tmm1 enough for all his work to bring SAT>IP / M3U support to Channels. It's such a game-changer and the polish and ease of use really sets Channels apart from the competition.

I’ve changed my m3u playlist to all http urls and it is all working but I still have speed issues between channel changes.
I will wait until next build for further investigation.
Day by day I’m growing to love channels more and more. Keep them updates coming. Thanks all

On the Kathrein 418, like most other SAT IP devices you choose what type of LNB setup you have. Unfortunately at the moment I only have a single cable. Does anyone know which frequencies I'm supposed to put in here against the Slots ?? At the moment I'm using the Quattro setup which works but obviously I'm missing channels until I get the LNB replaced.
Having trouble with http playback from my Telestart digibit r1 in Channels. This works perfectly in VLC:

However it fails in Channels with 'Tuner not Available'. Any ideas? I'd like to keep with http as the channels changes (at least in VLC) are rapid.
Is Channels set to use MPEG-TS when you're setting up the M3U? HLS will not work.
If anyone is using this method, this is the correct URL to use in the shell script for all English FTA channels on Astra 28.2E: https://en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E-fta_eng.php
It works well to generate the correct tuning parameters and to generate an initial base M3U. You can then go into the M3U and add nice things like channel IDs, numbers, logos, etc. I haven't got into how the docker container could handle that...maybe sometime between Christmas and New Year.

How are you running Channels? Is it the same machine you're using to test with VLC? Is Channels running in a container? I'm kind of at a loss if you're only changing rtsp to http and your M3U is otherwise identical.
I'm running channels in a docker on unraid - testing is on an M1 Mac mini using VLC. HTTP works perfectly in VLC, but nothing at all in channels.
Hmm, weird - have tested using web player and I get audio, but not video. iPhone app gets same tuner not available that I get from the iPad app (running on Mac).
Edit - have sent debug logs via iPhone app if it will help.
Edit - weirder - despite me choosing the satip source in web player guide it started playing from my hdhomerun, so this is a red herring. Back to no http playback in Channels.
The container/unraid may have a firewall issue? You could check that the firewall on the unraid is allowing http through for that docker container. I can't help with the specifics since setups vary quite a bit.
Do I need the beta client apps at the moment for this to work? I have beta server.
