As noted, the app. Because we need logs from what's happening in the app. Logs from your Channels DVR Server are not helpful to this scenario.
Is your Apple TV set to sleep after being idle for a while?
Yes
How is this done? My setup has the Apple TV connected via HDMI into one of my Lumagen video processor source ports. When the Lumagen is turned off the Apple TV never powers off. I've heard about HDMI-CEC but I'm wondering if and how vendors implement this and if they really follow a standard. And I believe there is a setting for this in the Apple TV. However, I find no setting in my Lumagen.
Restarting the app definitely fixes the problem because it gets a new schedule.
As far as sleep goes I just configure sleep after 15 minutes idle in the ATV, and it also goes to sleep when my TV powers off via CEC.
I've restarted the app numerous times. Did not affect things as expected. I am still seeing items in my Schedule (on the app), that have already been recorded. The app thinks that it can record these items today, even though they are not available to be recorded. Sent diagnostics and hope someone responds.
Do they also appear on the web UI
The web UI is fine the problem is in the Apple app.
In my case, I do not see these in the web UI. Nor do I see them in the Apple TV app when I go into Settings for Channels DVR...Schedule.
I'm not aware of the process for restarting the Channels DVR app on the Apple TV.
What I do find is that after a day passes the apps listed as Scheduled disappear.
Just submitted diagnostics, the schedule tab in the sidebar showed recordings scheduled from earlier today, was not refreshed to current time.
There are other problems that show up in the schedule - if you cancel recordings it doesn't show up as canceled for example, or recordings in progress don't show as completed when they're done etc.
The schedule tab seems to not be refreshed to current time. Eventually it catches up but this could be hours behind or even a day or two behind.
These are the same symptoms I've experienced.
The next time you notice this, could you try visiting Scheduled Recordings from Settings as well, and compare the two visualized lists?
I figured out how to “kill” the app on the ATV. I will watch for the problem to see if it returns.
The only instance in which the schedule appears as incorrect is on the ATV. And it's on the ATV app sidebar schedule. If I review the schedule, via the browser which is accessing the server app on my Synology, or the Channels DVR app running on my iPad these are correct.
I see the same out of date schedule from the Settings. Only way to clear it up is the kill and restart the app on AppleTV.
Here's a new one that happened today. I set up a recording this afternoon. On the app running on the ATV, it was neither listed as scheduled or recorded, even while it was being recorded and the guide showed it was. However, on my iPad it showed as scheduled and after it completed I was able to play it back. And when I went into settings on the app running on the ATV it wasn't there either under all possible places to find it. All of this suggests the ATV version of the app is having real issues.

As others did, after "killing the app" on the ATV and starting it once again, the recording of "ABC World News" appeard.
Appreciate a fix!
Hoped that the recent update to Apple TV might have some impact on the issue. Nope. It's clearly something to do with where the Channels DVR app on the AppleTV hardware is getting it's time of day and date. I see items showing up in the Schedule sidebar indicating scheduled for tomorrow, when its happening today. However, the Schedule in the Settings section is correctly showing the shows coming tomorrow, while a couple items listed as scheduled in the Schedule sidebar have already been recorded and awaiting viewing. This is very perplexing.
I'm having the exact same issue for over a month now, if I remember correctly. The only solution for me is to restart the Channels app on my Apple TV 4k Ethernet. Not ideal. I'm pretty sure this is a programming issue that can be resolved with code to reset the time and date stamp on resuming the app.
I find your means for “resetting” the app via restart the same solution I’ve used. However, that suggests the app itself is not obtaining the time zone via the Apple TV which is correct on my unit. The Apple TV uses NTP service to get the correct time and the user sets the time zone. So, it would suggest, as you say, a code issue in the Channels DVR app on the Apple TV. This issue does not arise on the Channels DVR app on my other devices. From the behavior I’ve seen to date it almost seems the app is using the U.S. DST for the East Coast rather than where I live in CA, 3 hours difference. Or worse GMT of 8 hours.
-
Today I noticed that even after a program, “Sunday Morning”, that was recorded over 12 hours earlier, it still appeared in the Schedule sidebar on the app running on the Apple TV at 7PM my time;
-
Also, another program, “60 Minutes” which had begun recording, after 7PM. I then chose to “Skip” this already recording program, which appeared as an option;
-
Once I did that, I looked at the Schedule, again in the sidebar, and now both the previously listed “Sunday Morning” and the “60 Minutes” program had both disappeared from the sidebar schedule.
So, it may be less about time zone and more as you suggest: a coding issue having to do with following what has been set in the Channels DVR server which all the apps are supposed to follow.
