It would be great to have an option at the server to sync favorites across all clients.
Yes, such a feature is needed. Also, such a feature is not easily implemented, especially when there are several different platforms to consider.
The good news is that the developers agree with you. The bad news is that there is no timeline for when such a feature will arrive.
I just use channel collections which are easily synced across clients. I think the old "favorites" is on the road to depreciation.

Favorites syncing is not something we'll be doing. Channel Collections is the appropriate way of solving this now.
