Top Shelf empty

My top shelf no longer displays my channels. It just displays a banner saying “Channels Live TV right next to your apps”. I remember this happening on a previous release.

Channels: 2016 ATV Beta (8.2.2006)
tvOS: 10 beta 4

I’ve had this a few times, on various releases. It always seems to correct itself after a while.

This seems to happen randomly. The way Top Shelf works on tvOS is very weird, and we don’t have a lot of control over it.

Some things you can try:

Go to the Settings tab of the app and “click” on your HDHomeRun. This will sometimes refresh the Top Shelf as well.
Restart your Apple TV

I can confirm same issue on beta for me on top shelf.

Try:

Add or remove a favorite channel
Move the app out of the top row and then back into it
Delete the Beta app and reinstall it

No top shelf on my beta either. Tried all three of those things you suggested and no go.

@Wazza1 can you try clicking your HDHomeRun on the Settings tab, or add/remove a favorite?

Yeah, I have tested done as suggested above. Still not working.

I’ve tested the latest version and repeated all the suggested steps. Still no top shelf.

Hrmf. I tried a bunch of stuff and can’t reproduce this issue.

Does anyone happen to have a mac with xcode and a usb-c cable?

Yes. I have a mac, Xcode and usb-c cable.

Re: the latest version release notes, my HDHomeRun model is HDHR4-2DT.

I’ve got a Prime HDHR3-CC and having the issue. I’ve got Xcode and a USB-C cable so let me know what you need.

Only thing I get on the top shelf is the app logo and text. Just updated to latest version and get the same. Will try a restart and see what happens. This is on two of my ATVs. Note that I just updated from the previous beta that had the SD support.

Restarted, no change - just logo and text. Tried switching tuners - I have two primes and a connect - no change. Removed app and re-downloaded. Still no change.
