TS4K strange sleep behavior - plays stream

Strange behavior happening with my Tivo Streak 4K device, that my mother uses in her bedroom. (it has been months since she has used it and it has had at least 2 OS updates)

When you play a channel, any channel, OTA or TVE, then you back out of the playback, to the guide, and you press the Power button on the remote, to "sleep" the Tivo and turn off the TV, it is like it is pressing the enter/play button, and it thus starts streaming the channel again, even though the TV is off.

When i turn it back on via the remote, Channels is up, the channel is in live playback, but paused, the Progress bar is filled in from the start time i turned it off.

I did a few tests just now, and confirmed this behavior .
Everytime you "sleep" the TiVo when you on on the Guide page, it will launch live playback of that selected channel program. Like is is also pressing Enter or Play.
Does it as well on the On Now page.
I manualy turned on the tv via its own physical pwr button, and the Channel is in fact playing live, so it is the press of the Pwr button on the remote, to turn on the tv, that again send a Enter/Play/Pause command and pauses the live playback.

If i fully back out to the main tivo/android tv home screen, and press the power button, it works fine, and is not clicking to open the Channels app again. Pwr back on and its still on the home screen....so it seems to be something with the Channels app.

I have tried the following things, and had no change.

Disabled Channels DVR Button detector
Disabled the HDMI CEC option in the Settings, More, HDMI CEC settings
(does not appear to even be using CEC, since the TV still turns off and on with this off, also, its and ancient tv, doubt it supports CEC.

No other settings have changed on the TiVo for many months.
Only has its OS been updated at least 2x, and the Channels beta app updated.

Channels app version 101.20.14
i submitted diags via the app for video player and other a couple times.

(also, at least twice, of it sitting not in use for a while, when we try to play a channel, it is fully stutter, unwatchable, micro stutters of half a second, and the audio is as such. i notice it is the whole system, even the system sounds in the menu, or the YT app. Physical power cycle only thing that fixes it....but that may be unrelated issue and I still need to see if that keeps happening)

Still having this issue with my TS4K of it playing selected channel if you put it to sleep.
It hasnt done that super studder thing after wake up again though.

so....guess no one else having this issue with the TS4K?....or no one cares...

No, it's a known and persistent issue. It's most likely an error in how the TS4K handles things internally, considering the other changes to the system-level to make their device more "TiVo"-like.

The solution: back out of the live player before pressing the power button. This behavior does not generally happen if you power-off from other views. It's a minor inconvenience, and most likely a bug in TiVo's custom Android ROM.

Known where???

I have not seen any one post about here.

That does not work....as i explained before.
Any page in the Channels app results in it pressing enter and starting a stream.
I have found you have to back out the main app home screen, ie, close Channels app fully.
it only does it in the Channels app, no other app, Netflix, Hulu, Emby, exhibits this behavior.
I would think, if it is a system level thing, other apps would be affected.

Well, that's how it works across my devices. So, it sounds like your problem is unique to you.

it does not matter what tab screen you leave it on, u press power and it press enter on whatever you have selected, on now, guide, recordings or library. there is no way to not have anything selected. i leave it on the recordings page, turn of, it click the program, turn back on, it starts playing as it pressed enter again.

My mother uses the tivo, and it took her nearly a year to get in the habit of backing out to guide and not just leave it playing or paused with the tv off. (in our living room tv an older Vizio with a Shield, set to use IR to pwr tv on and off) Trying to get her to now change that process to add extra step on the bedroom tv, to back out to the app page on the tivo, is exceptionally difficult.

Stupid Tivo....

Would be nice to be able to have control of streams via the server Admin Ui, to stop streams to clients, or to have some sort of long/rogue stream detection.(Emby has this ability, though i suspect it is possible there due to they have the stream buffer server side)
Maybe a feature like many streaming apps have, "are you still watching" pop up that then closes out the live playback if it does not get a user response.

I tried to reproduce this one, but I haven't been able to so far. I disabled PiP, started a show from the guide, hit back, then hit the power button on the remote (with the IR transmitter covered to keep the TV from turning off). The TiVo went to sleep. I pressed the power button again and the TiVo came back on. It was showing the guide inside the Channels DVR app. Is there something to this I am missing?

Note: I made sure that the TV didn't turn off. My Stream is currently plugged into the TV and would actually power off if I did. I will be changing that tomorrow.

If it matters, I have the button mapping from Channels enabled. I have Button Mapper installed but not configured and not enabled in the accessibility menu. I have all the TiVo software uninstalled via adb.

My guess is it might be some oddity with the CEC commands being sent Power is being used to wake the device and the TV. Most likely, the TV doesn't fully/properly implement the CEC standard, or does so in a non-standard manner.

Nope. Like i said before....CEC is DISABLED on the tivo settings.
The tv it self does not even support CEC.

The Tivo remote is using IR for the tv.

My tivo just updated to OS version 5256...still has this issue.

No idea if it is a quirk of this specific ancient Vizio tv...I do not have a spare tv to otherwise test it on. I do know it only started this behavior after some os update while back.
only plan on replacing that bedroom tv with some $10 or less "better" one i find at Goodwill, wich is were i got this one from, since you can not buy small tvs anymore new.

This bug is fixed in the latest apk beta.

There is an issue on the TiVo Stream 4K where the power button sends the play/pause keycode to our app. This keycode is now ignored on the TiVo version of the app.
