UK BBC Regional HD Guide Data

There have been a few teething issues since the BBC rolled out their regional HD variants in the UK. It's mostly working for me, but I still have an issue with guide data in Channels that does not exist in the hdhomerun application.

HDHR has been retuned and correctly identifies & selects the new HD regional variant ("BBC ONE Yks HD"). Within the HDHR application the guide data for both SD ("BBC ONE Yorks") and HD are correct for this region.

In Channels, I'm using "Local Over the Air Broadcast" guide provider with the correct postcode. I get the correct regional guide data for SD ("BBC ONE Yorks"), but the HD channel shows regional data for the wrong region (London).

The channel mappings are:
1, BBC ONE Yorks -> BBC1YNM
101, BBC ONE Yks HD -> BBC1LDH

There does not appear to be a regional alternative for BBC1LDH that I can use, and it's been like this for more than a month.

Is there anything that needs to (or can) be done on the Channels side to start picking up the correct guide data for the new regional HD channel?

Yep - there isn't a correct regional variant of the HD channel to change the mapping to.

Doesn't seem sensible to map the HD channel to the SD guide data as it it would lose the HD tag and I don't know if that'll result in SD recordings instead of HD.

I've also tried:

  • deleting & recreating the guide db
  • removing the guide provider and re-adding
  • also tried the other guide options (UK, UK (Extended) and Freeview)

Did you switch to "Search All Lineups" in the gear icon before searching for the callsign

Thanks for the suggestion.

Pretty sure I tried that a while ago, but tried again to be sure. It offers up some extra BBC Satellite / Streaming channels for mapping, but no HD BBC1 Yorkshire region.

You can use the SD data, it won't mess anything up.

You can also try syncing to whatever data the HDHR app is using, as follows:

  • on a computer, click the gear icon next to HDHR under sources
  • hold down SHIFT on keyboard
  • click Sync Station Mapping

shift-sync has changed a small number of the SD channel mappings (e.g. BBC2 now BBC2AD, QVCUKSD now QVCUK), but no change to the HD channels or the mappings available for them.

I'll try it mapped to the SD channel as a workround. Thanks.

Interestingly, I've just noticed that the HDHR app lacks a channel logo for the HD BBC1, so I don't know if there's something else that's still not fully resolved on their side of things.
