Uploading DVR content to iPad for offline viewing

Does Channels have this function, i.e. ability to sync content to an iPad for offline vieweing?

No we do not support offline sync at the moment.

This would be a great feature for me next month. Long oversea plane ride and too slow of a connection to be able to stream from home over the under sea cables.

I’m not sure the files would play natively, but I would think if you wanted to do that you could use handbrake to convert it and load it into iTunes and download it to your ipad that way.

Infuse or VLC would work on the iPad without having to transcode to h.264.

Is it something you might be considering for a future release? Or not likely?

It’s definitely something we’re thinking about, but I have no idea when we will get a chance to wok on it.

When I travel, I just load the original video files onto an SD card. Then you can play them with either the SD card in a WiFi drive or in the SD card dongle using a video player like nPlayer. Not as easy or slick as direct sync, but it works well.
