(Xfinity) TVE not working - Cable Provider auth failed / password reset

I've got the chrome_time_out page all day today after I changed my Xfinity password. Signed into Xfinity account on Channels DVR and I was able to add Xfinity TVE source again.

i had NO issues using my re-set TVE creds on any network website, even creating a new Xfinty user, would not work for Channels....again, you hit some sort of try rate limit after you try to authorize Channels for TVE and fail too many times, You have to wait until that limit ends (after 48hrs) and it worked fine, with no additional changes needed, in my experience.

im not sure the 48 hour limit is true, regardless i cannot connect to TVE once again

it was true for me and at least 4 other users.
I may be less, but the moment u try again, u reset the clock.
So 48 is being safe.
I had tried at least 24 and it was not enough.

Also, the second time Xfinity TVE channels went out, and gave Chrome Auth time out, I did nothing other than wait until the next day, and they loaded fine.

It is only when u remove Xfinity from TVE source in Channels, so far, that is the big issue happens of trying to add it back, and it takes 48hrs for the security block that may be happening to work.

i will try friday morning, what software version are you running on the dvr server?

i updated my sever every week or so to newest pre-release.
At present, I am on 2020.08.12.1854
(which is the most recent version, i just checked)

This should be fixed in v2020.08.19.2205

What is "fixed"?
Are you saying you found something in the Channels server that was causing this, forced password reset situation?

So what is the issue?
What in Channels woudl cause Xfinity to detect possible issue and force reset account password, then block Channels ability to re-add it as a TVE source...until up to 2 days later.

Are we sure it is fixed? I'm still getting the timeout error with 2020.08.19.2205. It does ask for a verification code, but there is no way to enter it.

It appears that the account you are using requires 2 step authentication.

You can make a secondary user (without 2fa) that only has access to streaming.

Great thread. Fixed my issue. I forgot about creating a secondary user with Xfinity. That solves issues and helps with security by allowing 2FA on your primary account. Thanks!

works for me and the first time it worked with my username, thanks channels team!!!

it appears a lot are failing with my username instead of my email address...

Those aren't supported for Xfinity, it should also say NickJR
Current Status : All subscribed TVE channels work except MTV, VH1, BET, CMT, Comedy Central, TVLAND, Paramount, Logo, TENNIS, Weather.

I had just rescanned my Xfinity channels, and that seemingly prompted them to send me a password reset email and thus my finding this thread. After changing my password, deleting the Xfinity source, and logging in with the new password on the NBC and TLC websites, it still will not let me re-add Xfinity. After a brief message of "verifying login information" it then gives me the error of "not in subscription". I am on the latest server version 2020.08.19.2205.

I submitted my logs as acaff59e-67ed-44c7-94b4-454c8d1e09a5

Edit: I have resolved my issue now. I had to "Turn Off Auto Authentication" for both the Xfinity account with the TV services and the internet-only Xfinity account where my DVR sits. I'm not sure how this became enabled on both when it hadn't been an issue before.
