ALPHA: Import TV local content into DVR

Here's something I found interesting about this unmatched import.
When it originally imports it shows up under unmatched.

If I open the series to match it, it has all the Season#, Episode# and Episode titles correct.
Must get that from my folder/file names.

Once I match the series using the tmsID,

all the episodes lose the Episode Title and I have to manually match each episode.

Here are my files

Where do you obtain the season / episode information? My shows that I had setup in Plex to match TVDB are not matching up. Some seasons have more episodes than the source ChannelsDVR is using.

Guide/metadata comes from Gracenote. To see their information, check out zap2it.com, which is run by Gracenote and populated with their metadata.

Thanks. I now understand why some of my shows don't match up... For example, they list Battlestar Galactica as multiple shows/years instead of using specials. But one show I cannot find on zap2it is Muppet Babies (1984). It shows up in Channels DVR as a match option, but I'm guessing Zap doesn't list all data from gracenote.

I'll gladly update my TV shows, but it would be good to have a full source I can use to match them up. Either that or it would be nice to have an option to select TVDB for the imported content, much like you can do in Plex.

Issues importing same series I'm recording with Channels DVR
Expedition to the Edge (2020) a.k.a. Put a camera on your mast, dude
Doesn't match.

Is there an upper limit on the size of the content libraries that can be imported? I tried importing my movie and TV libraries a few versions ago (first week of September), and began having difficulties loading the Channels client on my Stream 4k - couldn't load the client at all, so couldn't even get to logs to identify what was happening, but reverting back to a pre-import DB backup immediately solved the issue. My collection is on the larger side (~3200 movies, ~30k episodes of TV) and I'd love to integrate it into Channels so I can have a single portal for the family to access all our content.

You may have better luck with v3.0.2, but large libraries can still cause issues. It's one of the areas we plan to improve as the Alpha progresses

Sounds good, I'll give it a go. I know I'm out toward (or past) the edge of what could be considered a reasonably sized local content collection - it's good to hear large collection performance is on the roadmap though!

I am trying to import my recordings from HDHomerun DVR to Channels. For an initial test before moving 3tb of shows recordings I decided to just import some movies. I copied the Movies into a new folder with the DVR Root directory on the HDD that plugs into my Mi Box. I added the folder as a source, but then nothing happens. Any help would be appreciated.

That folder has 17 .mpg files recorded using HDHR DVR, there does not seem to be any activity happening on the DVR and nothing shows up in the library.

What am I doing wrong?

My first guess would be permissions. Does the user Channels DVR is running as have rights to read the files in the folder?

The DVR is running on the Mi Box and Channels has access to that folder as it is running in the same folder all it’s the same location that the DVR is storing recordings. It is just in a sub folder in the DVR storage.

The directory cannot be placed underneath the DVR's recording folder.

I think this one is going to be next to impossible...
It doesn't have Series and Episode, just 'Episode series' numbering.

For extra convenience, we’ve also included a downloadable PDF version of our episode index Most episodes are available for streaming. Due to intellectual property agreements, we are unable to post episodes from the Videolog series.

Currently have them organized by OAD Year

Thought this would be the case. Imported and the Series was found but none of the 270 episodes were matched. Sorry Huell.

All of the episodes look like this

Wondering why this is happenning since all of my recordings have had tms ProgramID's when they were broadcast and recorded. I still have some of those ProgramID's saved with metadata from recordings on TiVo's when they used gracenote/tms metadata and new ones recorded from Channels DVR using gracenote/tms metadata.

My only access to gracenote/tms metadata is through the zap2it website.

I'm assuming since zap2it licenses metadata from gracenote that gracenote has the metadata, but zap2it isn't keeping up with it (kinda obvious from their website).

Should it automatically be running commercial detection on all imports? I does not seem to being that. I seem at least early on this feature did not, but wanted to double check because there seesm to be an option for it.

Second item, should delete work? I delete an imported recording in the app and then later it seems to come back.

Delete only removes it from Channels' database/library, not the file. And since the file is in place, it will re re-added to the library when Channels rescans for imports.

Commercial detection does not run automatically for imports. However, as of recent prereleases, if you select "Re-Detect Commercials", it will process the import for commercials.

I really would like to see Channels DVR read the EDL that is alongside the import shows ... I have many shows that I recorded using SageTV and they already have EDL's ... running commercial skip again in this case should not be neccesary.

You may be able to manage this by parsing the EDL, and then adding them by putting them into a JSON payload, and doing PATCH /dvr/files/XXX where XXX is the internal fileID of the imported program.
