I may end up doing that but wanted to bring the format up to see if the devs wanted to include that in their config

Sorry Aman I figured it out. I didn’t match up the show info in the web ui. It imported successfully.
Does it copy the files to the DVR folder or leave them in their source folder?

I wanted to give the imports time to evolve before trying to import my College Football. If I can get my sports imported, I can get rid of PLEX. I matched both of these recordings after import, but they didn't show up with any data. I then tried to go to the individual game and tried to match it but it doesn't let me search or change the text. it spins and then closes. It doesn't let me resolve the game.
Also takes a long time for them to load / play.

That's because Channels DVR has to match it against Gracenote listings.
If you check at zap2it.com you'll set it listed as different "series/shows"

If you look at the Episode Guide tab for each one, you'll see the games there.
You can enter one the tmsId's to search for your "show" match in Channels.

And then try to match the individual games, for your example I would search for "Ohio State" or "Playoff National Championship".
Having the whole file name in the search box almost never works.
I did that on the first fix match and selected it, but it did not match with anything. I selected the National Championship. This is trying to fix it once it was supposed to be matched. The second time will not let me match anything and really reporting this to @tmm1 to take a look.

Is there a standard method to constructing a useful directory for TV episodes? What i'm driving at is i'm trying to break away from plex and use the import feature for several hundred episodes of old tv shows i have. Should the directory read something like: \Hawaii 5-o\season 1\episode 1 and so on or is there a good method that people have found to work? and speaking of hawaii 5-O, how do you handle two tv series with the same name? I'm in the middle of renaming all of my movies (several TB worth) and its slow going but it shows up well in the DVR. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to the DEV team for building out this capability.
I recommend adding the release year to the series name.

Thank you for the swift reply. It looks like I'll be at it a while renaming allot of files.
For series with the same name, I put the premiere year in parentheses after the title: Hawaii Five-O (1968), Hawaii Five-0 (2010). If the series is imported incorrectly, you can change the series Channels matched it to and fix it.
(A note on the series you were asking about: the original from 1968 is typically written as "Five-O", with a capital letter "O"; the current rebooted that premiered in 2010 in "Five-0", with a zero.)

I have some TV shows I've imported from MKV into channels. They are obscure 1990s BBC ones, is there any chance I can import the art work, on my own ? I can only find the title in the search box.
Not yet. It's on their radar though.

Semi-related, will there be a way to manually edit metadata tags? I have a number of Home Movies and other recorded video that's now trying to be matched against a movie database. These are videos with my family and stuff that are now being tagged and named as oddball dramas or whatever else seems to be closest to what it can find.
Home movies like this are not supported. Movie imports are for actual movies only. In the future we will have a way to import random videos via a different method. This way the scanner knows how to handle them better.
In the future we will have a way to edit metadata for anything imported.

Great news about the metadata. That would solve many issues. Please allow us to use embedded custom artwork as well for those of us that can custom art when it doesn't exist.

I'm getting the same behavior. I added the show for the sport but trying to match the individual games which are listed as episodes for the show doesn't work. I keep the search terms as loose as possible to retrieve the maximum amount of potential matches (for example "Lakers") but nothing comes up.
Please share example file paths.
