Dude, I'm just telling you I understand the complexity. I spent a great deal of time re-implementing the DirecTV flow. It's not simple work, DirecTV is one thing, Google is a totally different beast. Not to mention I also spent the last few weeks re-writing a good chunk of ah4c. See: GitHub - mackid1993/FastChannels-mackid1993: kineticman/FastChannels (main) + DirecTV DAI, rebuilt automatically to GHCR · GitHub for my DTV overlay that RE's their Android TV login flow. It's not "simple" work and when you have a much heavier auth layer like Google it's going to be much much harder to just grab an m3u8 and decrypt it.
If you're talking about FastChannels ah4c bridge for YTTV, I'm pretty certain @KineticMan has already taken a serious whack at getting that working. And his conclusion was, that it's not likely. He's also put this out about ah4c vs ADBTuner:
I was attempting to make the sheer impossibility of a YTTV bridge my point. LOL. Also at this point I'm going to openly say ADB Tuner is closed source in a sea of Github projects. Open source release has been pending and promised for ages. I take personal issue with that hence pouring weeks of time into making ah4c the better tool.
Thanks. I will ask over on the olivetin section for them to update their channel list.
You just replied to the Olivetin man himself!!!!
Edit: bnhf not me
Whoops, tough to keep all these devs straight. I really like how you did dtv stream any chance you could do that for yttv.
I didn't do DTV stream, @KineticMan did that. I wrote a patch that makes DTV Stream masquade as an Android TV Device rather than a web browser. I also wrote logic to bring back local ad targeting as the national ad feed was annoying me when watching live TV. All credit goes to @KineticMan I wrote a maybe 3000 line patch that overlays on his code.
Both @bnhf and I just said in various ways that what you are asking isn't possible for YTTV and @KineticMan also said this in an earlier comment.
Slight misunderstanding. I meant how he did dtvstream in olivetin not fastchannels.
DTV Stream provides an endpoint that allows for that. YTTV has to provide a similar endpoint to make such an action possible. If you want the best experience with an OTT tv provider and Channels DTV is quickly becoming the top of the list.
dtv told me to return my equipment to reduce my bill. then It went up as returning equipment removed discounts. now they wont add the discounts back. I am not a fan of dtv.
Yeah I mean the deal right now is keeping an Osprey gives you a discount. Call and talk to their loyalty dept and get a better price. You have to negotiate a bit. I've had both and DTV is SO much better.
I tried that.
Just tried a link extractor addon for firefox and it found the links so they must be somewhere.
I'm no mod but this convo is really getting off topic for the spirit of this thread imho.
agreed lets continue it over at olivetin.
FYI YouTube ain’t happenin with FC player. Trust me- I tried. They are aggressive!
I know lol! Once I started messing with DTV I knew Google was never going to happen.
Yeah...I think the only hope is adbtuner or ah4c for YTTV stuff. TVE stuff will work with FC but getting channels from YouTube to work will be a challenge.
Thanks for the clarification on terms regarding "capture card," etc. I've seen the terms mentioned and was never clear on the definitions. So "HDMI encoder" applies to thinks like link-pi that create IP streams instead of plugging into a computer's port, right?
I did a search for "source priority," and it mentioned favorites, resolution, channel number, and prioty-list of sources, as all contributing to some degree (I bookmarked for later study!).
I had already been thinking of doing the type of experiment you suggested. I have the following among my CDVR sources:
PBS (gracenote) Android Bridge - channels 2000+
PBS (gracenote) Prismcast - channels 5000+
Amazon Android bridge - channels 9700+
I set up 3 recordings, directly from the Guide, so each one was set up on the particular source, rather than as a pass or from a search by title (both of the latter, I think, would let Channels pick which source to use based on its own criteria - right?)
The two PBS shows (on different PBS channels) started at the same time, which was maybe one minute before the Amazon show.
The show on channel 2019 (Android bridge) and scheduled from the Guide's PBS android bridge list of channels, recorded on the Android Bridge firestick. CDVR logs show this was the first to tune.
The show on channel 5060 (Prismcast) and scheduled from the Guide filtered to just that source, recorded on Prismcast.
The show on Amazon android bridge (channel 9705), and scheduled from its listings in the Guide, took over recording a minute into the 2000-something show on the PBS android bridge.

I'd thought I'd restricted each of the Android Bridge sources to a single feed, but apparently I'd only put that restriction on the Roku Android bridge feed. I just now remedied that. However, I think that in the way to avoid an overlapping recording that might use Android Bridge from stomping on a slightly earlier overlapping recording would be to move all of my Android Bridge channels into a single source for CDVR and restricting that feed to 1 stream, so that Prismcast bridge would take over when Android bridge was in use.
I do, however, wonder how that work if I scheduled both competing shows directly from the Guide (e.g. told it explicitly to record something on 2019 and 2020, assuming those are from the same source), I'd simply lose one of the shows. However if I searched by show title or used a pass, Channels would see that show 1 was on 2019 and 5010 and show 2 was on 2020 and 5011 (where the 2000-channels and 5000-channels are from different sources), the rollover would work. Does that seem right? From a quick test, I see that Channels doesn't warn when scheduling competing shows on a single-stream source. Next step - if I'm on the right track with this - would be to do some more experiments.
I apologize for the length of this post - I'm trying to understand how all of the moving parts work together (or maybe blame the migraine I have today.)
Yes.
Yes, unless you specify a specific channel to use in the pass.
Yes, and this circles back to my original post that started this discussion:
Not sure, please try this and report back.
Yes, assuming you had your sources set up (particularly the source that uses your Capture Card) as I laid out.
BTW, the stream limit you have setup on the special "virtual encoder" source, will have no effect (one way or the other) on any of this. If you think about it, that source only has a single channel, so if multiple clients are connected to it they'll always be watching the same single stream from your Capture Card. I.E., there's only ever a single stream from that source.
Thanks. One further question before I start fiddling & testing. As I was starting to build a combined feed, I realized that the various sources that work with the bridges include gracenote channels & non-gracenote channels, so even if Roku, PBS, and Amazon bridged channels are pulled into a single source, there will still be separate sources needed for GN and non-GN, so I don't know that the problem would be solved definitively. There is an option (but apparently experimental and only useful with some beta version of Channels, I think?) to make a combined gn/non-gn feed, but it doesn't appear to be available for bridged sources, even with the beta.
I think I'd also have to take the android-bridged channels out of any other feeds (i.e. those based on category, such as news, etc) so as to avoid the tuning collisions.
