You could read deb's posts and responses starting up above at post 152
i.e. learn from others who left a bread crumb trail
Doing now. I apologize I did not see that. Thanks a bunch! This is fun...hurts my brain...but fun. Thanks again.
chDVRuser - Thanks so much for pushing me to read!!! I did it!!! It's working and I have guide data!!! What is crazy is that I did so much reading to install python3 and pip....never done this stuff before...absolutely blows my mind. Having me read from debs post down definately helped me....the biggest thing was running each command line one at a time...man...I am overwhelmed with this..Thanks a bunch!!!!
No problem. You should thank deb instead.
Deb-Thanks for posting your questions several months ago. This really helped me. I was able to get FRNDLY to work via Python and love it!!!! The biggest thing I was missing was running the commands one at a time...then putting in the path in the custom channel.....Absolutely made my day.
I know this issue was posted earlier, so I want to see if has been resolved for anybody yet. I still can't get any of the Hallmark channels to play through Channels DVR, even though they will play on my Friendly TV app. Friendly's website says they fixed the "degraded performance" issue. Anybody besides me still having a problem watching or recording the Hallmark channels?
I know! Right? Very helpful and knowledgeable folks here!
You are correct @finster869 . Even though Frndly's status page says the issue is resolved, it actually hasn't been. I am still getting degraded Hallmark channels in the Frndly apps, and of course those degraded channels will not display in Channels. I have written Frndly to tell them that those channels are still degraded. They probably just jumped the gun with their status report.
It still isn't working for me, and, unfortunately, Frndly thinks the issue is fixed. They sent me the following email:
Hi there,
We are aware of an issue with the commercials cutting into the programming.
We have fixed this issue.
We have also credited your account with a free week for your inconvenience.
Your new renewal date is now XX/XX/2023.
Please let us know if you have any questions or you run into a problem.
Thank you,
Frndly TV
Interesting. The commercial issue was fixed weeks ago and doesn’t have anything to do with The Hallmark issue. Did you say something to Frndly support about commercials or are they getting their issues confused? As for me, the Hallmark channels issue has not changed. Not viewable in Channels. Much degraded bitrate in official apps.
I believe they really aren't aware or need to bring someone in to fix the lower quality pictures on the app etc.
Most customer unfortunately, don't know the difference.
Let's hope they fix the feeds.
Yeah, that is the sum of the issue. The Hallmark feeds works just well enough to work in their official apps, but not well enough to work in admittedly unsupported environments such as Channels. Sadly it is understandable.
They must have gotten their issue confused. Here is what I emailed them:
The Hallmark Channel is still degraded, even though you are reporting it as fixed:
That is more interesting, looking at the wording more closely and what they sent you mentioning commercials. I am wondering if at the same time we Channels users have not been able to get those channels at all, the regular app users have been having commercial issues. Frndly probably did fix one issue but may not be fully aware of this secondary issue.
I'm now getting an error on a single channel. "Could not fetch playlist: NAS_IP:8183 get http://NAS_IP:8183/play/decades.m3u8: 403 Forbidden" error. Of course this happens on the only channel I signed up to watch on Frndly!
Can you guys check and see if you're getting the same error on the Decades channel for me?
Thanks!
It’s working fine for me. Maybe try restarting the docker.
I didn't do that yet, so I'll give it a try. Thanks!
Also the container was updated recently. That likely is not related to your issue. But you may want to update anyway.
And make sure to reload the M3U in the Frndly source.
I have the same error on Decades: Could not fetch playlist: localhost:8183: get http://localhost:8183/play/decades.m3u8: 403 Forbidden
Refreshed the m3u and still get the same error.
Still getting this error for Hallmark:
pipe:: could not find codec parameters

I was having the issue on Decades. I updated to the latest container and that seems to have fixed the issue.
Spoke too soon. Stopped working again
