Frndly TV for Channels

Thank you. I'll give that method a try. It may be a bit over my head, though. We'll see if more coffee can kick my brain into gear enough to figure that out. :coffee:

Another example

Just create a new Custom M3U Channel source like this using the stationid's you found
Use unique values for channel-id
Pick consecutive unused channel numbers for this new source and set Prefer channel-number from M3U

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="frndly-53-COWBOYW" tvg-chno="9201" tvc-guide-stationid="127279",WBOUND-127279
http://192.168.1.3:8183/play/cowboy_way-53.m3u8
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="frndly-53-XALCOW" tvg-chno="9202" tvc-guide-stationid="151350",WBOUND-151350
http://192.168.1.3:8183/play/cowboy_way-53.m3u8
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="frndly-53-CWBOYUK" tvg-chno="9203" tvc-guide-stationid="139097",WBOUND-139097
http://192.168.1.3:8183/play/cowboy_way-53.m3u8
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="frndly-53-XMVUCW" tvg-chno="9204" tvc-guide-stationid="182727",WBOUND-182727
http://192.168.1.3:8183/play/cowboy_way-53.m3u8

You can then view the grid guide for these 4 channels (I chose channel numbers 9201-9204, since they're aren't being used on mine)

Thank you so much for your help. I tried to do this same thing myself. But, I kept getting wrapped around my own axle. Unfortunately, I'm not the sharp young whipper-snapper which I used to be.

From what I can see, the first channel on this list, Westward Bound, #127927 matches the guide on the Frndly website/app. Whether that stays true beyond today's data remains to be seen.

Last time I looked, the live Westward Bound programming playing on Frndly didn't match their own guide. I'll try to keep my eye on it. :tv: :eyes: :grey_question:

Looks like between the four station id's, 127927 is the only one that matches show, episode and airing time for what's playing.

Yup. That's the same channel ID which is used in the Plex Docker. 127927 seems to be correct, so far...

ive added 127927 to cowboy way

I think someone may have transposed a number. 127927 seems to be sports related. I manually changed it to 127279 and it matches perfectly

type: Streaming, name: Western Bound Wrangled by INSP, callSign: COWBOYW, stationId: 127279, affiliate: null, logo: https://tmsimg.fancybits.co/assets/s127279_ll_h15_ae.png?w=360&h=270

Good catch, @slampman ! 127279 is correct. (sorry for the confusion, @matthuisman )
I seem to be making more mistakes as I age. :no_entry_sign::brain:

fixed now.
My original comment next to the code did have the correct one but I assumed it was a typo on my end

And I overlooked his typo and repeated it.

I take full credit for my mistakes. When I was an Assistant Scoutmaster, I wore a double brimmed cap which had the quote:
"I'm Their Leader...Which way did they go?"

This is a similar interpretation:

Just read about this. I really hope this doesn't effect Channels API. But I'm sure it will become a Roku only option.

The acquisition aligns with Roku’s strategy to deepen its subscription offerings while maintaining Frndly TV’s availability across multiple platforms, including Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android, iOS, Samsung, Vizio, and the web. This ensures continuity for Frndly TV’s existing user base

BOLD emphasis mine

Hopefully nothing changes.

I believe FRNDLY iwas going broke.
The company will have better funding and additional resources including CDN servers etc.
When they do the migration, they will encrypt the streams.
enjoy it while it lasts.

TVE is encrypted too. But there are tie ins to Cable/Satellite logins. So perhaps the same will be put in place for Frndly.

If it were you wouldnt be able to view it with Channels.

Actually, many TVE channels started to encrypt over the past couple of years. That’s why ChannelsDVR lost the ability to display them even with the provider authentication. The TVE channels available today (through ChannelsDVR) is a much smaller list than it once was. The channels we see now through provider authentication are the ones that have not bothered to encrypt (yet).
