I need help setting up port forwarding with a WiFi repeater

This device connects as a WISP to another WiFi network.

That does not necessarily mean it is operating in bridge mode. That description is rather vague.

Gotcha……,:+1:

The actual model number would be most helpful. (It ought to be labeled on the device somewhere, perhaps the bottom.)

Also, is there any printed or actual documentation/manual? That could help clear up what exactly their idea of WISP is.

Wisp mode is repeater mode! It connect via WiFi to a network, In my case my landlords wifi network. And after I connect to my landlords wifi and put in his password and it's connected. It repeats my own wifi network that I can name and select the password for. So I connect everything to that wifi and to the 5 available lan ports.
Makes sense?
I bought this router a year ago to replace my small wall plugin little square wifi Repeater.

You're describing a separate router, not a bridge/repeater. In a bridge/repeater, your AP would be rebroadcasting your landlord's SSID.

I never said bridge. In fact bridge mode is one of the other 3 modes it has. I only kept saying repeater

It appears that the only way to gain access is to allow DMZ on the Landlord's router to your router ... and then you can open your ports... but other than that it appears you are SOL.

By definition, a repeater would be "repeating" or "rebroadcasting" the Wi-Fi you are connecting to. If you are creating your network different/separate from that Wi-Fi, you are not repeating it.

(And based upon the screenshot you posted, the device only bridges on the WAN port, not the WLAN.)

It seems that we can't settle on terms and semantics, so without further details—such as the device's model number or link to the actual documentation—I'm going to step back from this discussion; it appears I have nothing more to contribute.

Just got it so let’s see what can be done!

Quick question…….what equipment are you using for your channels server? And what type of client are you using?

Currently I'm running the server on my PC running on win 10. Clients I use the Android app. And the fire TV app

Ok……..so sorry for the late response. I have been playing with the wavelink. So…….I’m sad to say that you’re setup is not gonna work the way you need it to work. However I do have a couple of options for you. One (if possible) is to run a cat5 cable from the router to your wavelink and put the wave link in bridge mode that way the main router will do the routing. If you can’t run a cat5 cable you can achieve the same result by purchasing two power line adapters. Of course power line will only work if you are on the same electrical panel as the main router.

You are not the OP, nor have you been active in this thread. Please state why you feel you have status to both enter and close this thread.

Because they're both Eric Martinez, who I was going to give a KUDOS to for purchasing equipment just to help another Channels DVR user. He must have two or more accounts.

Ok first. I'm assuming that you, gmartinez***** are the same person as Ericwmartinez that was gonna test out the actual router.....
And ya, thanks for testing and reporting.. but ya that's kinda the conclusion I already came to, that the only way it would be possible is if I pull a cable from the modem. But that isn't worth it for just this one thing. Cause the modem is 2 flights up from me, it's just not worth it.

That other option you mentioned, the power adaptor thing, is actually something new I haven't heard of or considered, I'll look into that and see what that is all about, and see if it could work for me.
We are in the same House, but like I said he is 2 flights above me. So it's definitely not on same fuse\circuit breaker. But on the same power line and account. Idk I'll look into that more. Thanks for that

Another option I'm considering is maybe trying to go back to my small plugin wifi Repeater I was using before this Wavlink Router. It was a small simple repeater, but it had 2 Ethernet ports at the bottom (most have 1), so I can make that work. And I saw in web page settings of that I saw a section for port forwarding. So I'm gonna try to transfer everything back to that repeater, and see if I can indeed just activate the port forwarding from that directly.
I can't recall the name of the brand that repeater is, something like TGVI. I Believe.
I'll report back if I have any luck settings it up with that.

Thanks for the help.
(Not sure what that last one was all about.... So much anger.... So sad)

EXACTLY!
I do wanna say KUDDOS! AND THANKS!

In addition to powerline ethernet, you can also use MOCA over cable wiring which I prefer.
All my previous Powerline adapters ruined my AC outlets and switches with micro-arcing.

Lol……yes I am one in the same. You know since it’s been brought up and after I posted my response did I realize I was on my other account. So first I have two accounts cause I’ve set up two different servers In two different locations. (Laughing) I had to set up a third account just to test the wavelink cause I didn’t wasn’t to interrupt my current server. So with all that being said here is my frustration. I use my phone for mostly everything I do. So when I allow access to a server (channels) keeps me logged in for as long as my cookies are enabled. So it’s hard for me to switch accounts cause I can’t seem to locate a log out option. So therefore I have to clear all my cookies and web history to reset the token.

Ok so back to the topic. I forgot about moca. However keep in mind that if there is satellite service moca cannot run in conjunction with satellite cause they use the same frequencies. But directtv has there own moca adapters and Dishnetwork have built in moca but you’ll need a special adapter to separate the coax to Ethernet.

Ok guys. So major update for me on this subject!
So I pulled out my old little Wifi Repeater that I used before getting this Wavlink Router. I had to make adjustments to make it work, but I got it done. Mainly the Router had 6 Ethernet ports. So I was connecting my, HDHR Flex 4k, My Channel Master DVR+, and my new Tablo Quad. So changing back to the small Repeater that only had 2 ports, I had to lose one. So I googled how to connect the Tablo via WiFi, which for some reason isn't as simple as you'd think. But I got it connected via WiFi. So the 2 ports are for the HDHR, and the DVR+. As they don't have a wifi connection option.

So at first I set it all up, as I used it before. In regular repeater mode. Now the reason I tried this changing back to it, is cause I saw in the settings page this repeater does have a section for Port Forwarding. So I set it as regular repeater, and tried the port forwarding. But it didn't work. The remote viewing was still saying my report isn't visible.
So the next thing I did. I did almost by accident. I clicked in the settings page on Bridge. And it reset everything. And now I get what was mentioned here before that the web settings for the repeater now disappeared. Cant access it anymore. But now everything I connect to this repeaters wifi, was now getting IP address like from the main router!
So it's funny, the repeater has a physical switch on the side that you move between 3 positions, AP, Repeater, Router. So that switch I still have on Repeater mode. But when I click Bridge it bridges in repeater mode? That's something the WavLink was missing.

So now in Repeater mode, with Bridged setting. I went to my main cable routers settings page. And I could easily setup the Port Forwarding, cause all my devices including the PC running the Channels Server, were now there on the router page as connected devices. So I just Forwarded 8089. And walla! I got remote viewing capability!! For the first time!!!!

So thanks again for all the help here.

This little thing seems to do it for me. For now
