Na, it's white, and not round
Ok I ordered it…….imma try to replicate your setup and see what can be done. It comes in tomorrow so give me till Wednesday for a solution.
Omg are you serious?? That's awesome
Btw I think you'll love it, it's a great cheap router\repeater\AP
Yeah I like to see success and like challenges!
Keep in mind, I use it in WISP mode. Which is their name for repeater mode
Are you sure about that? Typically, WISP (wireless ISP) would use a wireless connection as your WAN (as opposed to a wired Ethernet connection), but still provide NAT and routing using a different local/private network (LAN). (Basically the same as a standard router, except with a wireless connection to the modem/gateway instead of a wired as one typically sees.)
I am not saying that you are wrong. I am just saying that if that is indeed the case, then their terminology is confusing and non-standard.
This device connects as a WISP to another WiFi network.
That does not necessarily mean it is operating in bridge mode. That description is rather vague.
Gotcha……,
The actual model number would be most helpful. (It ought to be labeled on the device somewhere, perhaps the bottom.)
Also, is there any printed or actual documentation/manual? That could help clear up what exactly their idea of WISP is.
Wisp mode is repeater mode! It connect via WiFi to a network, In my case my landlords wifi network. And after I connect to my landlords wifi and put in his password and it's connected. It repeats my own wifi network that I can name and select the password for. So I connect everything to that wifi and to the 5 available lan ports.
Makes sense?
I bought this router a year ago to replace my small wall plugin little square wifi Repeater.
You're describing a separate router, not a bridge/repeater. In a bridge/repeater, your AP would be rebroadcasting your landlord's SSID.
I never said bridge. In fact bridge mode is one of the other 3 modes it has. I only kept saying repeater
It appears that the only way to gain access is to allow DMZ on the Landlord's router to your router ... and then you can open your ports... but other than that it appears you are SOL.
By definition, a repeater would be "repeating" or "rebroadcasting" the Wi-Fi you are connecting to. If you are creating your network different/separate from that Wi-Fi, you are not repeating it.
(And based upon the screenshot you posted, the device only bridges on the WAN port, not the WLAN.)
It seems that we can't settle on terms and semantics, so without further details—such as the device's model number or link to the actual documentation—I'm going to step back from this discussion; it appears I have nothing more to contribute.
Quick question…….what equipment are you using for your channels server? And what type of client are you using?
Currently I'm running the server on my PC running on win 10. Clients I use the Android app. And the fire TV app
Ok……..so sorry for the late response. I have been playing with the wavelink. So…….I’m sad to say that you’re setup is not gonna work the way you need it to work. However I do have a couple of options for you. One (if possible) is to run a cat5 cable from the router to your wavelink and put the wave link in bridge mode that way the main router will do the routing. If you can’t run a cat5 cable you can achieve the same result by purchasing two power line adapters. Of course power line will only work if you are on the same electrical panel as the main router.
