I don't know if it's that I've never noticed before, or if it just started happening one day, but I have been using Channels DVR with an HDHomeRun Flex 4K and 2 ATV4K's, one a 1st gen, the other a 3rd gen, for 2-3 years.
The 3rd gen has started lagging and/or stuttering pretty badly after anywhere from an hour or more of continual usage on any single local channel. I don't remember it ever doing this before a couple of months ago. In an effort to troubleshoot, I bought a brand new 3rd gen ATV4K just a couple of days ago. It also does the same thing. The ATV's are setup on my 5ghz WiFi network. I have tried turning on tuner sharing, matching content, etc, but nothing seems to help. I am now testing the "stream" setting instead of "direct". So far, it's working. The stuttering / lag does not seem to happen when watching other streaming services, such as Sling, or Apple TV+, only when using Channels DVR on local channels. Can someone explain to me what's going on here, and why it seems to be more common on the 3rd Gen ATVs, although it has happened on the 1st Gen, just not nearly as frequently.
