Hitting the CMENU in Amazon Fire TV gives you a “Record button.” Hitting “down” on Amazon TV does not. (Beta 121)
ETA: Ok, now there is a “Record button.” 
So disregard, I guess.
The record button only shows up when guide data is loaded from the DVR. If data was cached from before your DVR was setup, the button wouldn’t appear.
