Roku Tuner Bridge Official Release

Deleted and used a generic name for the source, still seeing the same:

I'm guessing it has something to do within Channels, so not sure there is much you can do. I still have use cases where I can use this, so no need to feel compelled to try and chase this down ahead of other priorities. For now, I'll continue to use Threadfin to insert the logo and channel number for my Channels Server.

It just dawned on me that I am running the test version of it. If you have time to try it out, it requires a yaml file to install with a local path for storage. If you feel comfortable trying it, maybe it will work better.

If you don't want to mess with it, I will look into the issue as soon as I have a break. The install instructions are on the test GitHub page.

So silly me, I was looking at the logos within the source page and not going to the guide to see what it was displaying. Even though the source still shows the original logos (likely pulling from the Gracenote ID), in the guide it is working. Sorry if I had you chasing down a rabbit hole.

Hi @Bobby_Vaughn !
What providers/apps have you tested with Roku Tuner Bridge? In particular, I'm interested to find out about the Peacock app. It has a tricky deeplink format. I haven't quite figured out how to get it working with this setup.

The only 2 apps I have had good success with are the YTTV and DirecTV apps. The other apps have been a mixed bag. Roku Deeplinks are hard to figure out on many apps and keystroke tuning has many built in hurdles by the app developers.

In my experience, the Roku DirecTV app tunes faster than when I was using ADBTuner with my Walmart Onn 4k boxes. I dropped YTTV before you launched Roku Tuner Bridge. So, I haven't had an opportunity to test that service.

I did manage to get several Paramount Plus channels working fairly well. Though, I have recently let go of that service provider.

I have also gotten the Peacock app to open. But, I have not been able to get a channel tuned. I'll keep fiddlin' with that one a little longer.

Hi @Bobby_Vaughn ! I see that this conversation thread has been closed and now re-opened. Can you please provide an update regarding the current status and future development and/or support of Roku Tuner Bridge?

Personally, RTB, on a basic level, is working very well for bringing my non-TVE DirecTV channels into my DVR. There are a few refinements or additions I hope to see which could make it easier to use.

Honestly, I have been working on a Learning Management System for my grandkids over the last few months and have not even thought about the Roku Bridge. I have been using it on my setup and haven't had to touch it. If you give a list of update/changes you would like to see in the Roku Bridge, I will work on adding them during the next release. With all the cool work being done with FruitDeepLinks and ADBTuner lately, it has pretty much made the need for another option obsolete. The Roku system is so very limited in what the ECP can do compared to ADB. I will updating it as soon as I get some extra time though.

Yeah. That's where I have been with it. It just works without any fiddling around. I totally get that priorities change, and I appreciate that you dedicate your time to grandkids. I would do exactly the same.

I had hoped for an easy way to import DTV channels all at once. Kinda' like what @bnhf did with ADBT and OliveTin/Project-one-click's " Create an ADBTuner DirecTV JSON and its Channel Lineup" action. I don't know if that's possible with Roku Tuner Bridge. If not, I already have all of my most important channels added.

I finally have ADBTuner working well enough to bump its priority ahead of Roku Tuner Bridge in my source line up. RTB is so solid that I'm happy to have it as a reliable back up to other methods.

I haven't tried the FruitDeepLinks project as it seems to be mostly targeting sports programming, which isn't my thing at all. I may look at it again to see if there's anything useful for a classic movie and TV series guy like me.

I really appreciate the effort you put into the RTB project. It just happened to come out right when I needed it most after switching to DTV.

Thanks! Now, go take care of those grandkids.:slightly_smiling_face:

I have just started working on a leaner, more focused version that will hopefully tune faster using the search in ECP instead of relying on loading the app every time.

I'm looking forward to your next update. As always, I'll be happy to test it out for you. Roku Bridge is helping me keep up with the Winter Olympics this past week or so. :slightly_smiling_face:

For what it's worth...The latest update to the Roku DirecTV app includes a setting to change the "Still Watching" prompt from 4 hours to 12!

Hello! Has anyone had any luck with getting this working with YTTV? My current Roku Tuner Bridge setup is up and running with DIRECTV Stream with no issues. I was able to figure out the deeplinks and channel ids and its working great. I recently started up YTTV and have it setup but its not tuning the channels. It will tune the YTTV app correctly but will not tune the channel. I followed the YTTV deeplink advice further above in this post, but have not been successful. I thought it might be the channel ids so I tried a few of the options mentioned in this post but it has not made a difference either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Youtube TV made some changes with their latest app that has caused the deeplinks to stop working. I have tried charging the way deep links work without success. I am waiting for the new update for Roku OS to happen to continue more tests. As of now, only DirecTv se ms to work reliably.

Ahh ok. Appreciate the feedback. I followed all the steps and thought I was going crazy!
Good to know I wasn't. Well maybe a little

Thanks to @Bobby_Vaughn, a new set of plugins are available to do even more with Roku Bridge!

Babs,

The primary reasons I started using Bobby's Roku Bridge were:

  1. Windows compatible installer and server
  2. Compatible with YoutubeTV deeplinks using Roku devices

Are either of these currently possible?

Right now, this is on the Docker development path, namely the HDMI-Encoder tag. Once it works its way into the main path, I'm sure it'll port over to the Windows version, too.

Nothing has changed there, still an open issue.

That said, the native apps method could be applied to YouTubeTV. See the directions in the main thread for what I'd need to get it up and running. I imagine with hundreds of stations it'll take a hot minute to get to the ones at the bottom of the list, but I see no reason it wouldn't be doable.
