BETA: HDMI Encoder Native Apps - Say goodbye to DRM restrictions!

image
Demonstration of a station playing in Channels DVR using the HDMI Encoder Native Apps - ADBTuner method. The client shown is the Feral HTPC community user created app for Windows. Be aware that the choppiness is just a function of being a GIF and that actual performance is smooth. See video below for a complete illustration.

I'm happy to announce the BETA release of HDMI Encoder Native Apps, an add-on collection for tools like ADBTuner and Roku Bridge that allows you to get more than a hundred stations from a plethora of apps! This has been made especially for those of us who don't have access to a TVE provider app and/or functional deep links. Complete details, instructions, and links are all available on the Wiki for the project:

Or, if you prefer, this video:

Special thanks goes to @turtletank and @Bobby_Vaughn for not only creating the base applications this solution is dependent upon, but working behind the scenes the past few months and adjusting their apparatuses to make them more accommodating to this approach. Also, appreciation to @bnhf for the OliveTin for Channels component and assistance during the ALPHA cycle. Special shoutout to @hjd for PrismCast, which is featured and discussed heavily as part of the overall approach to getting our paid for linear content however, wherever, whenever, and any way we want it!

This being BETA, some things may be in a state of flux, not work perfectly, or need some minor adjustments. As always, we are looking for feedback to improve the product. Further, I have only been able to set up stations with apps that I have subscriptions for. If you have an app that this approach would work on, you can either:

  • Submit new configurations/plugins to the repository directly
  • Send the step-by-step (including wait times) directions to get to and play the content to me and I'll build it out, or
  • DM with some temporary credentials so that I can figure it out myself

Most of all, though, simply enjoy!

@jpinilla712, as promised, the Disney+ stations have been added to the solution as of v2026.06.08.1619_BETA. These currently include:

  • Glee
  • Disney Animated Classics
  • Disney Throwbacks
  • The Simpsons
  • ABC News Live
  • Disney Playtime

Only ABC News Live has Gracenote guide data, as far as I know, but if anyone can find Gracenote IDs for the other stations, it would be a simple addition. I haven't found anything yet that could be scraped for XML guide data, either, but maybe @KineticMan might be able to take a closer look?

@bnhf, Disney+ added as an app source for OliveTin updates.

Great project and thanks for sharing! I was looking at setting this up on ADBTuner and I don't see an "Import" option under Configurations. You can "Add New" configuration, but it only accepts JSON. I have the latest build (2.0) of ADBTuner installed via docker. Not sure what I'm missing.

Also, the main channel I want to add are the live streaming HBO Max channels. Is there currently any support for these?

Per the prerequisites page on the Wiki, you need to be on the development tag:

All current stations and app support are listed on the Wiki.

That said, it's my understanding that HBO Max works with the default deep linking method, which is why I didn't look into it.

If this isn't the case or you'd like them as navigable selections using this method anyway, I'd be more than happy to add them! See the original post for the info I'd need.

Heres the deeplinks for the HBO Channels. Only missing Latino but I don't even know they show that on there

I didn’t even know Disney had live streams. I’ll take a peek.

Thanks! I can put these into a stand-alone stations file so at least people can manually load them up that way, if they want, and it'll just be available separately and you wouldn't have to keep posting them like this. Any idea if these work on Roku, too?

Appreciate it, didn't want to just volunteer you, but figured you'd have a better idea where to look than I do. It's all at https://www.disneyplus.com/browse/live, down at the very bottom. Otherwise, just kind of a mystery what's going to playing!

No idea on Roku. I didn't try it and I have both hdmi encoders on android devices so...I can't really test it

this project finally gave me a reason for adbtuner, but was trying to decide on my osprey or get an onn. (probably use osprey until i get a extra cheep onn someday)
I have a Roku Ultra 4670X if you'd like another roku tester, and that would allow/require me to finally dive into home assistant

I don't have a subscription to HBOMax to test it with. I will check with some friends and see if I can get a login to test with.

Well, it exists. It'd take a scraper to get it though. Their API calls for schedule exists, but it's gated requiring auth. If enough interest, I could make a scraper.

Definitely would appreciate it if you have the tuner available!

If it has more than just the current and next up, then I think it's definitely worth pursuing, otherwise I wouldn't bother. My guess is that a lot more is going to end up in this area over time (maybe perhaps the lost TVE stations?), so I, for one, would certainly have a great use for it.

This does kind of remind me something else that I'll message you about on the FastChannels repo.

As of v2026.06.10.1322_BETA, HBO Max is available with the following stations:

  • HBO
  • HBO Hits
  • HBO Comedy
  • HBO Movies
  • HBO Drama

This is true both of the individual station files and the "all" stations.

Please note that these stations are using the "deep linking" default method, not the custom configuration/plugin app navigation method. Thanks to @Jean0987654321 for providing those!

Also, since I don't have a login, I can't confirm these are working correctly, so will need others to check that for sure.

@bnhf, at your convenience, please add HBO Max to OliveTin, thanks!

Done. Pushed yesterday as bnhf/olivetin:latest (aka bnhf/olivetin:2026.06.11).
