Sport Program Priority Not Recorded

Todays Florida State and Florida Game, Channels Recorded the game on ESPN SEC channels instead of the Normal Broadcast ESPN. If Channels records by priority then why did it record the ESPN SEC broadcast instead of ESPN. 6140 ESPN is certainly before 6144 ESPN SEC. Grace Note titled them exactly the same even though ESPN SEC was the broadcast of Command Center. I tried to record ESPN version but channels would not allow it. I tried to record both with no go. I canceled ESPN SEC and record the ESPN version but channels decided to record ESPN SEC again. This behior is not normal. Should at least be able to record both but Channels does not allow it.

Also the playoffs are coming soon and ESPN always have multiple views of the games and more than likely ESPN is the origianl broadcast of the game and would like to see the above behavior fixed to either tilte the games properly in the guide or channels records by priority like its designed to or allow multiple recordings of the same tiltled program.

The Log shows the priority reversed. Why

What do your logs for the time of the recording say? If you want specific answers, specific details are needed. Everything else is just WAGing.

As shown in the log, Channels was trying the SEC (6144) first. Is one marked as a favorite? Curiously, you say you stopped the recording and then tried to tune ESPN (6140), but the logs you posted do not indicate that.

If you wish, you can manually schedule a recording from the guide. If you did that in this case, it would be tied to the channel you requested the recording from.

Also, please don't edit your post in response to replies below ... it makes following a thread incredibly difficult. Instead, reply to the post and include the additional information.

I didn't know it was recording the wrong channels til I started playback 90 minutes later. Thats when I noticed ESPN was not the recording but ESPN SEC. But the guide didn't indicate it was the Command Center. Still if its priority is the behavior, DVR should have recored 6140 not 6144. Why did it try 6144 first if 6140 numerically is before it. Priority recording for TVE is not behaving as designed.
I would have prefered both channels recorded if its schedule on two channels. Whats the behavior when TNT, TBS, or any other networks that simulcast live programming on the same channels. But ESPN does this with special programs like Playoffs and Championships. Unless gracenote can specificly tilte the programs for different channels all channels should record.
I canceled this recording yet it restarts on the wrong priority channel.

Where have you seen that Channels DVR prioritizes by channel#.
I've only seen the opposite.

Channels DVR does not care about Channel Numbers unless you specify them on your Pass.

I think this is something that gracenote needs take in consideration in thier guide. ESPN many times has simulcast of events with different various broadcast of the same game. But gracenote list them with the same program title. If you have spectrum or other provider, their guides have the teams and added Command Center in the case of Todays Game. The orignal Broadcast on ESPN and ESPN SEC was the Command Center Broadcast. But the guide listed them as College Football: Florida State at Florida. I understood priority was Source Priority then Channel Priiority. Channel 6140 is first in line or above Channel 6144. Tivo would record all channels with the same program name unless you had no more turners it would then goto the priority you set.

Then whats the algorithm it uses to determine which channel to record. TNT and TBS does this. Which channel does the DVR record from East or West stream and why.

What is "the Command Center"?

They need to update their documentation so we know what to expect.

They had a special broadcast of the game and had split camera views. Same game but different propective. This was the view. States traditional telecast of ESPN in the bottom right corner.

If you have east coast and west coast it will record the earlier stream regardless even if the west coast stream is favored.... unless you specify a channel in the pass.

When there is Live Sports Events they air the events simultaniously. Obviously when the program is not live duh

I have seen that happen where it favors TVE over OTA. Don't know why but I had to remove Comet from TVE. because I wanted to record OTA.

Which one will record from this example. East or West and Why Same thing as today Game

Look at your pass and see what Channel is first. Also if one of the airings is marked HD and the other isn't it will record the one marked HD.

This is TVE not HDHR Cable Card
Its states West. Why is west. Whats the behavior in channels that prioritized this.

TVE channels are all marked as "HD", while your OTA Comet is likely SD, and therefore lower in priority.

It will record 6036 first. 6036,6035

Thanks I have been wondering why .
