TVE Beta: Recordings causing problems with Windows Explorer

When trying to browse folders in Windows 10 in the DVR directory it locks up (doesn't respond) while browsing any TV folder that uses TVE as the source. If I try to browse a folder that is recorded on OTA it is fine.

I've noticed Windows 10 has a hard time reading TVE recordings. Anytime I open the TV folder in File Explorer it takes a long time to open the file list. When it finally opens the recording duration always shows 00:00:00.

This is a bug that we are looking into.

Any progress on this? I'm having to remux using MCEBuddy to fix the file. Otherwise anytime I open the recording folder in Windows it locks up File Explorer.

I've been recording many TVE shows and it's working great. The only issue I've been experiencing is the recorded video files in Windows. I have been using Plex for my DVR but with the addition of TVE Channels is now my primary DVR. Keep up the great work.

Old recordings were causing this problem but it should be fixed in the latest builds. Are you still seeing it in directories of newly recorded shows?

When was the latest build? My recordings from early this morning still had the issue. I'll record something now and see what happens.

I'm on build 2019.06.23.0257 and I'm having the same issue with the recording files on Windows. Below are 4 separate recordings. All takes a long time in File Explorer to read the file with one not able to read.

If I remux thes files with MCEBuddy then they can be read without issue.

DiY Netowrk - Length 00:00:00

Science Channel - Length 00:00:00

AHC Channel - Windows could not finish reading file as indicated with the green bar at top.

TVLAND Channel - Length 00:00:00

Could you try again with the latest build?

With the latest build 2019.06.25.0534 I'm seeing the same issue. However, recording Mom on FXHD looks good.

Thanks! Could you grab the [MTS] Log line for the science and FX recording and post them here?

Do you know how I can get Windows Explorer to show the "Length" column? It doesn't do it for me.

24%20AM

Right click on the folder and choose Properties. Go to Customize tab and choose Videos from the drop down. Also click on "Also apply this template to all subfolders".

I'm also seeing this. I have 3 TV show files that all have discontinuity errors, and will not only lock up windows explorer, but any player (OTHER then the web based player) or program attempting to access the file.

Thanks for the logs.

Our theory was that "saw_pcr=false" is causing the issue, but your log messages seem to invalidate that hypothesis.

What other programs are having issues with those recordings? We have not had problems in VLC, VideoReDo, Comskip, MCEBuddy, etc.

Most of the programs will evidential open and play/read the files but it could take upwards of 5 minute. Once they read/start playing there are no issues.

Windows Right Click function; Media Info, VLC.

Windows Movie and TV will not play back unless remuxed.

Are the discontinuity_detected counts causing this issue? It seems any TVE recordings where discontinuity_detected=0 works fine in Windows explorer. But if it's > 0 then Windows explorer can't read the file.

Is it inherent in the stream so it can't be fixed? Just asking if this is a fixable issue.

Good observation! Can anyone else confirm?

The issue is fixable, but we need to narrow down what's causing it first. If it is indeed the discontinuity_detected counter, then we know where to start looking for a fix.

Ever since you asked for the MTS log I have extensively checked discontinuity_detected count for every TVE recording I've made and all that have count > 0 Windows Explorer cannot read. The issue is fixed after I remux with MCEBuddy.

Recording TVE movies doesn't seem have this issue. Every movie recorded shows discontinuity_detected=0. Below is an example of recent movie recording from AMC channel.
