Sure, there will always be users doing things they should not.
However, this software does not have any default or normal setup options to allow someone ignorant of piracy to setup to receive pirate streams. To do so involves working out m3u and epg data to feed into the software, and they either do it themselves (and thus do know, or should know what they are getting into) or they are using direct links from someone else (again, not direct within this software).
And "DVR service" should not make a difference... streaming pirate content is illegal regardless of if you save a copy or not.
VLC is a common widespread player, it can stream illegal content, and you can save that content , but again, VLC, like this software does not tie into pirate content on their own or help other do so (see many posts here where users are told to go elsewhere, most no one here will help those trying to do this).
So, no, Channels is most definitely NOT headed towards pirated content!
