(Xfinity) TVE not working - Cable Provider auth failed / password reset

I think what he’s saying is that if you unlink it will revert to the prior behavior?

that has nothing to do with things. as it does it on any netowrk u have not linked to. liek DIY, Free form etc.

u are just logging into that site via browser. does not affect how channels does things. far as i can tell.
also, how explain this behavior and change in login form then? i would have had to login and Link to nbc to have it change in first place.

comcast had to have changed something.
channels hopefuly can fix it and make it work again.

My XFINITY is working on all channels now had a problem for about 5 minutes. Watching the Rockets getting killed on TVE.

It seems to affect groups of users at varrying times...whenever Comcasts automated account system robot does its "Account Analysis" ever couple months.

I just used nbc.com/live as an example since that's the first site adding a TVE source uses.
I can also duplicate it on Discovery Networks.
I use my browser to authenticate with Discovery channel and start watching live.
I then open another browser tab to diy channel and can watch without signing into Xfinity, I just choose Xfinity.
I have to open the menu (hamburger icon) and choose to signout from Discovery and diy, otherwise I'm still logged into Xfinity and can repeat the example at other Discovery Network sites.

One thing I haven't tried yet is logging in to one network (like nbc) and seeing if I can access another network (like discovery) without authenticating (logging in) to Xfinity. Just tried that, it does work.

i get it....but again...doesn't work for me.

Ok......its working fine again now....
i have done nothing....(further than reseting the password to something, then back to what i had set.)

I am having this issue..... again, for the 3rd time.

I reset the xfinity password.
All 2FA is disabled.
I created a sub-user account, which is now fully verified.
I can watch nbc.com/live with the sub-account with no issues.
I cleared the channels TVE account.
I clicked and held the update to force the latest update (2020.10.16.2213)
I tried to re-add the TVE source, and ..... "Chrome auth_timed out" error again.

Whats the fix this time?

EDIT: after all of the step above, plus waiting a couple hours, rebooting the server, and another round of password resets, I am now able to re-add xfinity TVE (SUCCESS). This is so annoying.

as the other posts say...just wait a day or 2 of doing nothing, no authorizations. and then u should be able to re-add xfinity.

last time it happened to me, i reset the password back to my original one via the comcast portal, did not do anything in Channels dvr, and the TVE channels loaded fine 24hrs later.

creating another comcast sub account is pointless, as it is the account as a global thing that is being stopped or hitting it max authentication limit. (is my best guess).

Is this just dead? Xfinity stopped working for me and even after removing it, resetting my password, waiting 48 hours, using the latest version, etc I still get "chrome auth_timed_out".

It was great for the little bit that it lasted and I would love to get it working again.

I do see this in the log when trying to add it as a new source:

2020/11/03 22:14:22.622586 [TVE] action=error_response type=XHR error=net::ERR_ABORTED

i am having sime issues too, but its not all channels. liek i cant CN (TOON) and get te chrome time out error...but other channels that use xfinty, like nat geo wild work fine.
the error scrren shot says the login info is wrong, but it is not.
i can go to CN website and login and watch vides fine with my xfinty info.

EDIT. Ok. Just got the U must reset password email from Comcast.....sigh.
so yea. this issue is gonna be a thing and is not fixed.

I tried to add it as a source again today and it's working for me. Currently checking access to all of the networks. Hopefully it will stay authorized this time.

im just gonna wait a day or so. since i changed the password to the same as what channels is set to, hope fully, it will be able to re-authrize without me having to delete and re-add it. it worked once before.

Good luck! It seemed like a full 48 hours (and maybe a little more) was required for it to work again for me.

i am back in this boat, comcast wanted me to change my password....but it works when i use my username and not my email address

My Xfinity TVE is back working again...so. yea. 2 days for things to start working again after changing the password to the same one Channels has. did not delete and re add source. i just disabled Xfintiy as a tuner source in the clients app for 2 days.

Xfinity is forcing me to reset my password every 2 weeks causing this error. F%$^& them!

Sometimes, I can re-add Xfinity and it works right away. Sometimes, it keeps giving me the error for a random amount of time (not 48 hours).

Edit: I will say... its pretty annoying that any other websites, apps, etc all allow me to log in with my new credentials immediately and work, where the Channels TVE server fails repeatedly and is inconsistent in getting reconnected.

Are you or any other Channels developers doing anything to look into this, perhaps contacting Comcast yourself? This is affecting too many of us to be random security events. Something about Channels' TVE implementation is apparently triggering alarm bells with their ridiculous authentication system. It seems to be about every 2 weeks for me and it turns my server into a paperweight for 2 days every time.

EDIT: This server is at my vacation home (same state, AZ) and not used all week long. The last password reset email event occurred this morning, about 9 minutes after a failed TVE series pass recording, which also has chrome_auth_timed out in the log during the failure. That recording would have been the only TVE activity from that server in the past week.

This issue only seems to occur for users using their Comcast login at an address that's different than the one on this account. Presumably Comcast is trying to discourage such behavior. The vast majority of users (who install the dvr software in their home) have no problem.
