No issues. Infact nothing at all other than an entry each time one has eventually been imported:

Eg "2022/03/05 18:04:03.230339 [SCN] Imported TV show West Ham Videos/EVERY PAOLO DI CANIO GOAL FOR WEST HAM-(1080p).mp4"

Not sure if its a file name issue or whether it just takes this long as channels needs to search for several minutes before finding there is no match (there wont be). Only time i've ever come across it but then i've always added actual broadcast tv shows or movies upto this point.

And the entries are exactly five minutes apart?

If it's perfectly normal then no problem. It's the first real time i've added non broadcast tv/movie files that Channels isnt going to be able to match so wasn't sure how long it should take.

Woohooooo!!
Verified fixed and working, and looks slick.

But ive been noticing this when looking at individual songs on a virtual channel. Any ideas where this image is pulled?
Do i need to regenerate the guide again? Only reason i ask, is last time i regenerated the guide something happened to the metadata and i had to go back and recreate the “series” , but it may have been a brainfart on my part at the time.

I found an old hard drive with data I held on to from the late 90's, early 2000's. I'd archived lots of favorite music videos, TV commercials, and various wacky found footage like "TV Carnage" (a precursor to Adult Swim.) I forgot I had all of this great content! Now its all organized into Collections and auto-playing on Virtual Channels... and it was so easy. Feels like a match made in heaven, this is nostalgia I wouldn't have enjoyed again if it wasn't for this platform. How very cool. Kudos to the developers :+1:t3:

Yes, in 2022.03.05.1736 the main poster image is an instant change, so that seems all good. Interestingly, posters I selected a couple of days ago but didn't stick were now there, as if it was stuck before but this somehow loosened them up and made the last selection go through.

I tried with a couple of very large shows with the checkbox to see what would happen. In one with 105 episodes the selection screen stayed up for a couple of minutes, but everything seemed to update. However on one with 283 episodes, the selection screen stayed up for about 10-60 seconds (varied over several attempts) and nothing changed--except the main poster, which was practically instantaneous.

The new metadata editor has opened up a whole new world for music videos - particularly when combined with virtual channels. I put a feature request elsewhere not to hog this specific thread, but its related..

I cannot get the update Art feature to propagate the change across all episodes for the tv show. It just updates the main poster, I am selecting the check box “apply new poster to all recordings of this show”, but this does not work for me.

This is really a great addition to channels. I have to two thoughts about it that I think that would make it even better.

  1. Can you leverage the embedded meta data in iMovie files? For example, I process all home videos in iMovie and afterward they have image art and whatever meta data I supply. I've also added meta data via MetaDoctor as an example as well.

  2. Could we have a library category for Home Videos similar to the one for Kids?

Thanks for adding this feature!

All this is planned!

Excellent! Looking forward to these additions.

Im still seeing this sporadically in the virtual channels after using the “apply poster to all…” in the metadata editor.

In the library it looks great

But in the virtual channel im seeing this,

but my process is the same for the other virtual channels and those music video posters show up fine in the guide.

Could the bulk metadata editor, be trashing the artwork somehow?

Because of the way the guide is generated for the virtual channels, I believe any changes you make to the metadata will not be updated in the virtual channel until the guide updates (usually around 9am each day). You can manually force the guide update, and this might fix your issue.

I also did this from Library > Shows
Pick the show.
Edit Metadata for any episode, make NO changes to it and click Save.
Viewing the episode from DVR > Manage > Shows, it lost the show artwork and displays the placeholder image instead.

The recorded files json no longer has the Airing.Image url, but it still exists in Airing.Raw.program.preferredImage.

Doing a Refresh Metadata on the episode brings the show art back (adds the recorded files json Airing.Image url)

Is it still happening? Should have been fixed in 03.05.1736

Yes, still happening. I'm running 2022.03.05.1736

That was it for me. Thank you.
The guide must have updated last night and artwork propagated through. Good call.

Are there text character count limits in the summary section, and other descriptive sections. Ive noticed if the descriptions are too long, in certain menus they are cut off on the clients.

Could a text character counter or word counter be added in the input fields, so the metadata text will show up in optimal form everywhere?

Or some other solution?
