Recent Xfinity TVE auth failure

I've been trying to auth again for the last week+ for various channels on Xfinity. It has been working for a long time prior to this. The diagnostics id is d59af101-fe92-480a-9931-78376ba2e84c. Everything is green there.

I use a separate user that only has access to streaming, but also tried the main user. 2-factor authentication is turned off. Auto-authentication was originally turned off, but nothing was authenticating for Xfinity with it off. I tried turning it on and some of the channels authenticate now, but many of them do not. I'm able to watch these channels that are failing to authenticate on Xfinity's Stream in the browser.

I have updated to the latest Chrome and Channels DVR pre-release. I've restarted after doing so. The logs and the screen shot show that authentication is failing at the username screen. I've tried going to the https://sp.auth.adobe.com link directly and was able to successfully log in using the same credentials. We subscribe to that channel and it has been working for more than year. CNN, TruTV and Hallmark are some other channels that are failing to auth. Below are some sample logs. Any recommendations? I've already spent a lot of time trying to fix this on my own and reading through the forums for more ideas. I've cleared the browser history. I've updated the password both through the Channels DVR UI and via a curl command.

That has nothing to do with Channels DVR TVE (which uses the networks live websites).

The logs you posted don't show the chrome version
The latest pre-release is 2025.05.28.0134
https://community.getchannels.com/t/dvr-pre-release-notes/28832/9999

Make sure to use only your Xfinity username username, not your comcast email address [email protected]. Some channels will authenticate with your email address, but not all channels.

Other than that, try again with Xfinity Auto Authentication turned off.

If a channel fails to authentice when trying to play live or record, I just try to keep playing the channel from the web UI (which will try to authenticate it) instead of rescanning the channel, which may fail and remove it from your lineup.

Good Luck.

One of the thing to look for is being held captive by the auth login process at Xfinity.
If you link your Xfinity Provider at NBC Live in a browser and try to login to Xfinity, does it ask for any additional security related things before it sends you back to NBC to watch?

Thanks for reply.

I'd done all of those things that you mentioned, but I finally figured it out! Of course, I only tried it after I'd posted.

I had looked at my ad blocker (uBlock Origin Lite) and saw that login.xfinity.com was listed as exempt from filtering which I'd had to do in the past for authentication to work. This time I turned off the extension completely and it worked. I noticed in the logs that login.xfinity.com is redirecting to my.xfinity.com so that also needs to be exempt from filtering. I think that this is a recently added redirect. Hopefully this helps someone else. It might be good to add disabling your ad blocker to the list of tips.

Glad to hear you figured it out!

Are you running that as a Chrome extension on your browser?
I use the original uBlock Origin on my Windows browsers and it doesn't block any xfinity.com hosts.

I would think if you're using B.Y.O.B. (bring your own browser) for your server (like on Windows) that Channels DVR would launch it headless with add-ons and extensions disabled?

My Channels DVR servers run in docker containers, so they use the Channels DVR provided headless chrome in the :tve containers.

Thanks, added

XFinity TVE lineup appears suddenly markedly culled

No longer getting ESPN, Fox News Channel for example, as well as many others

I've rescanned and they simply don't show up anymore.

Have they been cut off from TVE? Or is there anything else I need to do?

Can you login to those networks live streaming websites in your browser, authenticate using Xfinity as your provider and stream live.
If yes, then they're still available via TVE using Provider Xfinity.

Try TVE Troubleshooting tips

Yes I am able to view ESPN and Fox News Channel both via their websites using my Xfinity login, and also via the Apple TV Apps , again using my Xfinity account.

But when I rescan my Channels lineup for Xfinity they do not propagate on my lineup, and are absent from the guide. Along with many other channels. Some like CNN are still propagating and are viewable

I have downloaded the latest pre-release version.

So bottom line no idea why many live channels are now no longer propagating in my Xfinity TVE lineup when I rescan

Not sure what to do next, any advice appreciated

The only advice I can offer is

SOLVED!

Following the TVE Troubleshooting steps in order, Step 4 revealed an error with my Network Interfaces.” Duplicate Networks” were detected giving the error. Further researching of other topics revealed error caused because that my MacPro , that I use as my server, was connnected to my home network hardwired via Ethernet AND via WiFi. So I turned off the WiF, and this resolved the Network Interface error.

Rescanning of the Xfinity source then restored all missing TVE channels.

Probably an unusual cause for TVE issues, but this could help someone else solve this in the future

These forums and Channels support are the best!

Thanks

And I just encountered a similar problem on my Win 11 laptop.
Moral of the story: If you're suddenly having odd connection problems, always make sure WiFi is OFF.
I have had WiFi turned off for a long time, recently I was have a hard time with CDVR,
like my iPhone would not longer find the server, other tablets being used out on the porch
were having a hard time staying connected.
I finally checked WiFi on the laptop and WiFi was enabled, I disabled and all is now fine.
I believe somehow a recent Windows update might have reset the WiFi, not sure that is possible
but its all I've got.

Glad to hear that helped!
