Samsung TV Plus for Channels

A post was split to a new topic: Fox apps not requiring Provider login today

i think the issue is a change at Github. They seem to be caching the master url for a lot longer.

I have started adding a "generated" tag to the xml <tv so can easily see when the file was updated.

eg.
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matthuisman/i.mjh.nz/c2d46336a115fe9ad9e8865470386f1d5bc9eb47/SamsungTVPlus/us.xml
was commited 2 hours ago

notice it has generated-ts in it.

However, master: CBS News still doesn't. Tells me it's cache is older than 2 hours
(ps: no idea why this forum is showing the above linke as "CBS News" haha)

What I can do is grab the commit hash from github after commiting it, and then update my redirect urls to point directly to that

This explains why the listing in the kodi addon were working ok. They use a json file directly from my server (via cloudflare). However, CF didn't like me caching xmls so they went onto github

It's parsing the xml
Try putting back quote (grave accent) marks ` around it
`https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matthuisman/i.mjh.nz/master/SamsungTVPlus/us.xml`
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matthuisman/i.mjh.nz/master/SamsungTVPlus/us.xml

Or use square brackets and parenthesis like this

[https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matthuisman/i.mjh.nz/master/SamsungTVPlus/us.xml](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matthuisman/i.mjh.nz/master/SamsungTVPlus/us.xml)

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matthuisman/i.mjh.nz/master/SamsungTVPlus/us.xml

I can see the timestamp generated-ts="1676255203"
in the file at https://i.mjh.nz/SamsungTVPlus/us.xml
which matches the date/time displayed for the file at Index of /SamsungTVPlus/
us.xml 13-Feb-2023 15:26 1186374
knowing that's UTC+13

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matthuisman/i.mjh.nz/master/SamsungTVPlus/us.xml for me in NZ does not have th timestamp. So maybe it's a geo cache issue

Seeing this in it right now

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE tv SYSTEM "xmltv.dtd"><tv generator-info-name="www.matthuisman.nz" generated-ts="1676258805">

And Index of /SamsungTVPlus/ displays
us.xml 13-Feb-2023 16:26 1179545
which matches generated-ts="1676258805" being 13-Feb-2023 16:26 (UTC +13)

It's working for me in Channels DVR.
Have XMLTV guide updating hourly and displaying about 6-7 hours of guide data for 242 channels.

For anyone else using it, you may want to set

XMLTV Guide Data
https://i.mjh.nz/SamsungTVPlus/us.xml.gz (gzipped xml file is about 1/10 the size of the unzipped one)
Refresh Every 1 Hour

just updated the i.mjh.nz redirects to use the commit hash.
lets see if that helps...

Guides are coming in correctly for me. Thanks for your products and good work.

Anyone else have issues with MotorTrend FAST TV? Seems to just play 15 seconds then freeze.

I am trying to add this source and getting guide info using the links above but not a picture when I try to watch. Using this link:

https://i.mjh.nz/SamsungTVPlus/us.m3u8

Any ideas? I've deleted the source & recreated with a new name but same issues.

These are my settings:
Nickname: Samsung TV Plus
Stream Format: HLS
Source: URL
https://i.mjh.nz/SamsungTVPlus/us.m3u8
Options:
Refresh URL daily
Prefer channel-number from M3U
No stream Limit
XMLTV Guide Data
https://i.mjh.nz/SamsungTVPlus/us.xml
Refresh Every 1 Hour

Although this setup is almost identical to what I had (Name, channel number option) I deleted the source & recreated. It's working now - thank you!

Follow-up question. The channel is working now & guide data is populated. However, recording some shows off ION + channel (Murdoch Mysteries) & not all of the episode data is not there. Just a record date & description of the episode. Is there anyway to link this to season/episode so it can be watched in order - even manually?

There guide data is could be better and Pluto TV which has many of the same channels is even worse.

Please read this to understand how these Custom sources are handled versus OTA/TVE stations:

Then do this if you want to change something missing in the metadata like the season/episode number:

Reading through the responses it would appear that the season/episode info is not part of the guide info provided by Samsung I am using in my source that I had pulled from a recent post on this thread (CBS News). I had already manually edited the Metadata (nice editor BTW) but was hoping there might be a more complete guide available that would have the season/episode info. Also, I had used the Fix Incorrect Match function with some recordings I had moved over from my Tivos and finally figured out that it isn't available on directly recorded shows which would have been a time saver.

BTW - the help files that the Channels team creates are really good and I am taking the time to start there, they have answered many of my initial questions.

It looks like the EPGS are not updating again for Samsung Plex Pluto and Stirr.

My dockers for Pluto and Stirr seem to be fine, Plex has not run out of guide data yet, but Samsung has been out since yesterday. Looks like something has crashed/failed/hung-up on @matthuisman's site.
