ADBTuner: A "channel tuning" application for networked Google TV / Android TV devices

Oh, just a tip. If you set your config to press play with the timed commands every hour or so, you'll never run into this. The play button doesn't actually show anything on the screen, but it sends a heartbeat that prevents the keep watching prompt from ever appearing

Yeah, that's a solid suggestion as well. I have already changed my "still watching" settings on the DTV apps for my onn boxes to 12 hours. It's unlikely that I'll ever have same channel consecutive recordings exceeding 12 hours. But, I'v always been a "belt and suspenders" kind of guy. So, I am adding 60 minute "play" commands to the Compatibility mode configuration I use for DTV.

I pushed an update (20260531-3) to the development version this morning. Nothing exciting, just updated all third-party dependencies to supported versions and fixed a few small bugs. Let me know if you run into any issues.

Just added Paramount Network to my Hulu Live TV adbtuner. I can't add this channel to the guide. Any suggestions?

Thanks to @turtletank, a new set of configurations are available to do even more with ADBTuner!

ok, so I have a reason to spin up an adbtuner container now. anybody using with hdhomerun? I don't need my local news in supper high res, some jobsites have bad cell and makes it hard to watch at lunch.
(also no, transcoding delays skipping around too much for me, so I use direct/original and 720 works great)

Love adbtuner. Finally swapped out an old Tivo stream 4K with ONN 4K plus and the ONN device has been solid. Any way to stay ahead of Hulu changing channel IDs? I get the channel ID by tuning to the channel with a browser and copying the URL into adbtuner. That always works for a while, but then Hul
u changes it. It's Paramount channel.

With all (?) of the World Cup matches being broadcast in 4K on Fox and FS1 via DTV, has anybody been successful setting these 4K alternate channels up in ADBTuner?

Nah...I tried with Channels numbers (and channel name)...and it didn't work. Had the "old hardware is not sufficient error"

I've since switched to YTTV. I just use streamlinks for stuff like that since my LinkPis can't do HDR

I have ADBTuner working great with DirecTv (1 Osprey, 2 Gemini Air) - I recently added a custom configuration to launch the android spectrum tv app on the Directv devices - I did this for a couple of channels that are only there. It works and I get the channels I want reliably, however the Spectrum app is left open and streaming after the tuner connection closes.

I tried adding:
"compatibility_mode": true
to the global options in my configuration but it didn't seem to help.

Is there any other way I can have the app close after a stream terminates?

I don't have DTV and have not tried Fubo with their 4k channels for it, but they do work well with EPlusTV and the FoxOne integration. If the broadcast is in 4k for either channel it will automatically select that feed and record in 4k.

am force-stop com.package.name

Can someone please provide guidance on how to properly get Hulu Live adbtuner channel IDs?

I set up ADBtuner a few months after it first came out. The instructions were so good and it's worked so well that I don't remember much about getting it up and running, and I've just used it since. Until a week ago, when it quit working, and digging back into it is pretty foggy for me.

As a note, my channels DVR is running on an up-to-date Ubuntu Linux server, also where ADBTuner is hosted. A few weeks ago, I moved the server to a new subnet, changed the IP the clients connect to, all has been well. In case that matters

The experience now is programs I schedule to record through Channels scheduling through ADBtuner result in corrupted or damaged files. Black screen for video, or not, audio track completely missing, or not, or a file that generally looks OK but can't be navigated via ffwd or rewind.

Programs recorded via TVE show no issues.

When I log into the Portainer interface, I see the Local instance, the only one I have, it says up, little green check. If I click on the environment to manage it, it immediately goes to 'down', error of "Failed loading environment - The environment named local is unreachable." and nothing else will bring it back that I've tried short of rebooting the server.

ADBTuner itself shows to be up and "Endpoint Connection Successful" status. None of the configured channels have changed. If I use the Preview feature, I can see a the correct channel come up.

Would love any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this.

Not specific to DTV, but anyone can use their provider credentials to get access through Fox One. My streams default to 4K, I assume because my devices can support it.

I just wanted to note here, since it's relevant to ADBTuner, that it seems that DirecTV has made some sort of change on Osprey boxes to the way they handle HDMI negotiation. So for anyone who is doing like a wake, tune, sleep sort of setup in their config, you might need to add a small delay between the wake and the tune.

I tested a delay of two seconds in ah4c, and that's been working well for me. I just didn't want anyone pulling their hair out like I was figuring out why their boxes wouldn't tune a deeplink. It appears that now upon wake, they need a moment or so to settle with the latest changes made. I don't know why. I was able to do was some APK analysis and was able to sort of deduce that some changes were made to HDMI negotiation. Empirically, I was able to figure out that adding a 2 second delay after wake and before tuning helped and resolved the issue.

I've been using ADBTuner for 8 or so months. Love it - thank you.
I'm running a series of firesticks that have been launching the xfinity stream app with no issues until this week. Now it seems like the ADB commands aren't launching the app all the sudden. Anyone else seeing this issue?

I've been using encoder-connected Firestick 4K Maxs for several years with ah4c (a close cousin of ADBTuner), and I haven't seen any changes. The Xfinity app launches, and tunes as per usual.

Any clues in the logs?

Nothing that I can see. It's on the home screen reading the text, but the stream app never opens. Eventually:
2026-06-26 19:07:55.797 - stream - [Tune muaEWjnMgZaW4vGADi9HVb] Maximum wait time exceeded. Giving up after 40.39 seconds. [Tune muaEWjnMgZaW4vGADi9HVb] Display was on, application (com.xfinity.cloudtvr.tenfoot) was closed.

Then it'll flash the stream app for keepalive a few minutes later, so it's not like it's the wrong app name...
