TBS/TNT Tuner Error for YTTV

I manage a friends server and he called me to say he couldn't watch TNT/TBS through Channels. I've tried the normal things to fix (update server, check troubleshooting review). Nothing has resolved the issue. Here's the info from his logs showing the error:

Channels does not support 2FA (last i knew)

Also, there is already a massive thread on YTTV issues.

Not sure , but maybe your issues is related to these?

Some additional context:

  • It's running on a RPi machine
  • TBS/TNT were working 3 days ago
  • He's not had issues in the past with 2FA, but I'll have to check to see how he's setup on his account to know if he's got a 2FA disabled account being used.

I was happy to help him cut the cord, but also don't want to take on trouble shooting several times a month, so I may advise him to just use the YTTV app and it's limitations.

YTTV seems to be one of the main problem child sources for TVE of late...

I have no issues with Philo for TVE with channels.

Is he able to login to the actual network website (TNT and TBS) and stream the station from there? That is where Channels pulls the live stream from.

It might just be some change on the TVE side, and Channels Devs needs to update something...

I get those channels via Xfinity TVE, and they are loading fine in Channels.

There has been a lot of issues getting TVE to work with YTTV. Google makes it hard for devs to sort out the issues as they create even more.

I would recommend switching to something else if you want TVE. The only other alternative is using HDMI or adbtuner or ah4c to pipe in any channels you need to watch from there

I previously used HULU but dropped them when I started having connectivity issues periodically. I'm on Fubo and it's been basically rock solid, especially when using the Fubo Project solution to supplement (or replace) TVE accessible channels. Downside is it costs more, so not sure my friend wants to make that jump. Plus not sure Fubo Project works on RPi, I couldn't get it to work on an ARM based Synology NAS, so assuming would have the same limitations. Like I said, my IT help desk days may be coming to an end and I'll have him just start using the YTTV App.

The fubo bridge should work with rpi as docker works with rpi but yeah...I think if he wants to keep YTTV, using the YTTV app will probably be less of a headache
