What streaming service provides the closest to an Xfinity TVE experience?

I'm having Ziply fiber installed at the house in a couple weeks and am looking for one or more streaming services to replace our Xfinity cable service. Most of what I record/watch is via TVE and sports are what I watch most of, but I'd like whatever streaming service I use to integrate well with ChannelsDVR. So far it looks like the top two candidates are YouTube TV and DIRECTV Stream. Any thoughts on what would make for the easiest and most complete transition?

Yeah...basically those 2. YTTV and DTV Stream

You may want to check suppose.tv and select the cheapest TV service based on the channels you watch tho

I got more information than I was looking for by using ChatGPT. It listed Xfinity TVE as the best, YouTube TV a little behind and the best of the streaming services, with DIRECTV Stream as a little behind that. As much as I appreciate ChatGPT, I still wasn't sure it would provide as good a perspective on the subject as actual users in the community.

YTTV hands down. Never had DTV but i use YTTV for TVE as well as with adbtuner and an hdmi encoder. Picture quality is amazing.
I started with hulu live and it was horrible.

What are you running your Channels DVR TVE server on?
I thought there was an issue with YTTV TVE authenticating on some systems.

My ChannelsDVR host PC is a "mature" HP Z400 Workstation with a Xeon W3680 CPU @ 3.33GHz running Win 10 Pro. As far as throughput - during March Madness it was recording up to 12 HD streams at once while playing two or three recordings. With Xfinity TVE it has been mostly flawless with the exception of losing UniMas earlier this year.

Thanks, but I was asking @slampman what he was running on for his YTTV source.
I currently use an Xfinity TVE source in a container on my Synology NAS. Works fine for me.

Was looking at YTTV for TVE earlier, but the posts about issues authenticating kept me from trialing it.

I'm cutting back on my Xfinity Triple play legacy plan as the price has gotten ridiculous, and currently looking for alternatives. Fubo was nice a year or so ago until they dropped channels and are going DRM with more.

If you're heavy into sports, you may want to checkout the Fubo TV Project and it's third developer.

So wondering what YTTV TVE works on without auth issues.

Im running it on an Ubuntu Server VM that I feed into my main DVR server. I cannot get TVE to work on the Channels docker container with YTTV as a source. @tmm1 could this ever be looked at? It has been going on for a while. I could spin up one and give you logs from a failing container.

And I also would like to know if: YTTV on a Windows 11 Laptop authorizes without issue.
I'd start with:
. No Family groups as it would only be my wife and I so no need for that
. No 2FA, Two factor Auth on the Google acct.
Unless either or both of these makes YTTV Auth work smoothly.
Thanks for replies.

I had no problems with TVE authentication when I setup an LXC container to test YTTV. I installed Chrome in the container rather than Chromium though, and I suspect this may be the difference. You might try exec'ing into the Docker container and purging Chromium, followed by installing Chrome.

It think it'd be worth a shot -- just to see if this is the issue. Make sure you don't restart the container though, or it'll revert to Chromium.

I am using a LXC created from the community helper scripts. TVE- YTTV works great.

Regarding my initial query - can YTTV TVE be added the same way I added Xfinity TVE (as a cable provider)? Or is using something like a Docker container (like in adding Frndly.tv) required?

Yes.
